• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Weeper hole causing me to cry

Is this something that I can expect to replace every 10,000 miles ? One of those things that should last forever but occasionally don't. I had mine replaced four times in 20K. Usually started leaking again in just a couple thousand miles. Each time BRP paid to replace more and more parts...

1330 ACE SME6 Engine Oil Filter Cover Torque Spec

Correct. The 2014 Owner's Manual doesn't show any specs for the filter. The 2015 manual shows 18 lbf-ft +/- 2 on page 126. The 2015 manual also shows the revised oil quantities. Download a copy from the BRP site. I check both before doing any work to see if there were any changes. Plus the...

    Unexpected Hitchhiker

Brockville is where we turn north to go up to Smiths Falls, ON for our first night's stay. Great town and Rob Roy's Pub can't be beat. Have stayed in Smiths Falls and eaten at Rob Roy's several times. He moved into a larger place in the EconoLodge and another pub opened in his old place by...

    Unexpected Hitchhiker

Considerable farkling was done before the ride. All functional, none for show. More to come -- all the same as my 2011 additions which I proved I really liked. Before the trip -- Baker wings, ISCI brake lever, two Gerbing connections for heat, LED signals in the mirrors, Custom Dynamics...

    Unexpected Hitchhiker

After 40K on my 2011 RT-S SM5 I am looking forward to great times on the new RT-S SM6. The break-in trip was even better than expected. Great machine.

    Unexpected Hitchhiker

And some people complain about bugs! We just got a new 2014 1330. Took a break-in run from eastern PA up thru Thousand Islands, thru Algonquin and up the Bruce Peninsula, over Lake Huron to Sault Ste Marie, up along the north shore of Lake Superior, and eventually back to PA. What a great...

    PO174 vs Wiring Harness

Fuel Injectors I had a long history of this also. Vacuum tubing for the MAP sensor was replaced by me, was brittle and possibly leaking but code returned 1,000 miles later. Tech replaced O2 sensors under warranty and fuel filter as maintenance. Again OK for 1,000 miles, then code returned...

What equipment did BRP leave off the 2014 & 2015 RT-S

Gee, I hadn't thought of that. Always a wise guy in the crowd. :joke:

What equipment did BRP leave off the 2014 & 2015 RT-S

Right you are, Bob. I just picked mine up. The kit is 219400185 and lists for $94.99. It comes with a new switch which I'm sure works just fine. But my overly conscientious dealer said the "color" didn't match -- I assume he means the lighted color. Maybe you can straighten me out, Bob...

    2011 RTSM5 .... neutral / reverse flashing

TSB 2010-4 I had an "E" problem show up that was very erratic and happened rarely. My tech remembered an old TSB from 2010 that was a Gearbox Position Sensor Initialization procedure. He said he'd try running the bike thru that procedure first as he couldn't find anything wrong with the...

What equipment did BRP leave off the 2014 & 2015 RT-S

The kit is still available. It is not in the 2015 accessory dealer catalog. But if they look in the 2014 accessory catalog, get the part number, and type it in the computer, it comes up as available. My dealer just did this for me and the kit was ordered and arrived a couple days later. I...

Can I use these instead of soldering in Resistors?

Not red -- the true color is amber, just looks red in the photo.

Looking at This Trunk Rack - Anyone Have It?

Alternate Choice As an alternative, this rack is from Inspector Gadget http://www.spyderrt.info/ . I chose it partly because it, too, does allow full visibility of the high-mounted central brake/taillight. I've had it on for about 35K miles and used it heavily loaded for trips to Alaska...

    Replacement windshield arm

Likwise. Brand new OEM just installed under warranty so it should last "a few" miles. Then the excellent Australian version will go in.

    Progressive Insurance

From all of the above posts, it appears one true generality is that there are no generalities across all riders, all states, all bikes. That said, I have used Progressive for years on my bikes. We totaled the GL1800 Gold Wing in the state of Washington with over 100K on the bike. Hit a deer...

    Water pump oil seal failure

There are two seals involved on the water pump shaft. A conventional oil seal on the end of the shaft that goes into the engine proper. That seal comes as part of the provided parts kit but is not pre-installed on anything. The other seal at the water pump end of the shaft is a mechanical...

    2011 RT/SE5 Battery Recommendations?

Here's more info from Yuasa. All are excerpted quotes from their literature and tech manual: FAQ - Can an AGM battery be installed in any position? "In most applications, batteries are installed in an upright position, but in some situations, there is a need to tilt them (sometimes at very...
