• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder possibly over heating when summer hits

The Spyder will go into limp mode and give you a message if it overheats. If it doesn't do that, it is not overheated. I was in stop and go traffice last summer in 107 degrees. The Spyder went to 7 bars and kept purring right along. I would think that overheating where you live would not be...

    Future of the Spyder??

Looks like Toyota is going to try to make the Carver technology work. The Carvers are a European invention, I think, and it never came to fruition, like so many other three wheelers. I would have one of these in a heart beat. Of course I am also waiting on an Elio. And an Aptera. In the...

First (non-riding) impressions of the 2013 ST

Thanks for that review. I wonder why BRP won't put the rear view mirrors in a useful position. They have some reason for having them where they are. Anyone have any idea why they continue to do this? And the seat. I get it that they are never going to have a seat that makes everyone happy...

    SmoothSpyder belt tensioner

Hands down the tensioner is the best thing I have done to my 2008. It was not required when the belt was tighter. Of course then you had to change out rear bearings more often. But with the looser belt spec the smooth spyder tensioner is a must. BRP will eventually make it standard equipment...

    Gas Additive

Me too. Unless you are storing a gas engine why would you use an additive. How do you know it works? How do you know one is better than the other?

    Riding boots question

I just got these form Honda East. Once I got them on, and they were a struggle, they felt like slippers. True to size. Well except for getting them on and off. It was raining yesterday and I used them to go run with the dog. That should have broken them in. Great deal BTW.

Planning a Trip Through Death Valley?

This is still my personal best for gas prices. I paid $5.75 there about four years ago. But gas is still the cheapest part of owning a spyder.

Sure would like a way to use one of these for an oil change....

I have an electric version of that. It works well on boats where you can't get to the drain plug and on low slung sports cars like Mercedes where it is difficult to get underneath the engine. A spyder is so easy to drain with the plug I don't know why you would want one. And the last little...

    Polaris trike?

The Morgan is being manufactured and imported once again. Starts at $55K and goes on from there. Pretty steep for something with an air cooled HD engine. The GG Tauras is a good looking machine but also a bit pricey. Spyder is a great machine at a reasonable price which is probably why the...

    Polaris trike?

I will have one please. In my experience, however, the only thing that craters faster than a Rotax is a Polaris engine. But a four cylinder N/A engine might hold up.

Are we the only ones with no motorcycle experience??

I had never ridden a motorbike and bought the 2008 Spyder off of a picture. When I got it I took it from one end of Route 66 to the other. Not having any motorbike experience was a plus in that I never had the feeling that the hand brake was missing. On the other hand I expected service...

    Crawfish Boil Saturday March 15th

Wow. I was born and rasied just a little outside of Thibodaux-Waverly Road. Thibodaux High class of '66. I was born on Welcome plantation of all places. I do miss crawfish. And the people.

My Rear Fender Brackets are Cracking --- AGAIN

I have had two RS's and no broken fender brackets. I wonder why. The present RS has a habit of vibrating the license plate frame to shreds (2) and I have fixed that by just not using one. Good luck with BRP on getting them to rectify what seems to be a fairly common problem.

    RS Handling problem

Make Certain your DPS has been fixed. But if it was misbehaving you would certainly know it as it will scare the h out of you. You don't want to ride without this being fixed although thousands did for many miles and never had a problem. The most drastic improvement I have noticed is going...

    Buzzing

My experience and the experience of quite a few others is that after the belt tension was loosened the belt started to vibrate. Why it happens in that rpm range in every gear beats me. You can tighten it up and the noise will probably go away. But you will experience early and repeated rear...

    Amsoil Test Results

I like what you have done and I buy my oil and filters from you. i inted to continue to do so since you do all of the due diligence on your products. Having Amsoil check their own oil is a bit suspect. Better would be to have a disinterested third party do it. I intend to do that and I will...

NEW TIRES AND WHEELS ON 2013

The fuel cost of running a Spyder is the cheapest part of the total operating costs. I owned a boat before I bought into Spyders and it got 1/2 mpg. Beat that pickup truck owners. Funny enough the fuel was the cheapest part of that deal too. The range gets to be a bit of a problem...

2013 ST thoughts from a RS riders perspective

I agree with this. BRP has listened and watched and pretty much brought a product to market that is has what people want. Am I going to change out my 2008 RS/Gs for an ST that is pretty much equipped exactly as I now have my bike. No. Why would I? But there are some new buyers out there that...
