• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RS-S or wait for the ST-S model???

I like footpegs and highway pegs. The standard footpegs allow me to rise up over the saddle when crossing speed bumps or railway tracks, dirt bike style. Saves the butt and the back.

    A- Arm Bushings

All the shop manual says is this: " move upper (or lower) suspension arm from side to side and up and down. There should be no noticeable play in bushings." Also:" If necessary, remove suspension arm and inspect pivot bushings and sleeves for wear or damages. Replace bushings and/or sleeves if...

BRP - Are they intrested in the UK Market ?

Yup, I figure that if you steamrolled British Columbia ( a Canadian province) I could just about ryde to Japan, lol. Stress? Baloney! I live for the twisties!

    Thanks!

A great addition to our favorite site! Now, if only a few Canadian provinces were added to the states list ( BC, Alberta, Ontario ?) so we could set up local meets and rides, life would perfect.

Parking brake failed! Think spydee is DOWN and OUT this time!!

This is good advice! I have a 2008 SE5 and ALWAYS lock the bars. Also, get familiar with the parking brake adjustment, check it often and don't leave it up to someone else. Again, very sorry for your trouble.

    OYSTER RUN 2012!!!

Sounds like a plan, Rick. See you there.

    Parking Brake

With an SE5 it's wise to keep the park brake adjusted. Also, get in the habit of locking the handlebars. That way, if the brake does slip, the Spyder won't roll very far. Angling the front wheels against a curb on an incline is good practice, too.

    OYSTER RUN 2012!!!

Yup, I get a hankerin' for cinnamon rolls and oysters every year about this time. See you and the gang at La Conner, Joe.

    Got a general maintenance/trouble question

I do most of my own maintenance and modifications myself on my old GS SE5 Spyder, and I prefer working on it to working on motorcycles. At least, the Spyder isn't likely to topple over when you are working on it, lol. Get yourself a digital shop manual from Midwest Manuals. That way you only...

    Question??? With all respect.

I once asked a Harley rider why he liked his ride so much, and I really liked his answer. But I got to thinking, you know, the same reply applies to Spyders. So here goes: "Why do you like Spyders so much?" " If you gotta ask yer never gonna know!"

    carry a pistol?

So, let's see. The punk has the drop on you and wants money. Do you: 1-reach for your piece and scare him into shooting you, or 2- give up the wallet and call the insurance company? Hmmm. Anyways, you are right about us Canadians owning a lot of firearms, but it's mostly deer rifles and...

Questions on the touring windsheild on RS

I find them ugly and they increase the time needed to remove panels for maintenance. Took them off and left them off.

    Washington state endorsement help

I am licensed in BC and I ryde in WA a lot.Never been hasselled. Lots of Canadians ride Spyders and trikes there. I believe the local police don't require out- of- state three wheelers to comply, but it might be worth a phone call to check if you are concerned.

the most dangerous motorcycle on the road

I did the same, since I usually ride toes out. I don't have to twist my foot to reach the pedal now. As a bonus, with this setup I can heel brake from my hiway pegs, as well. I've been riding bikes since 1960 and I prefer Spyder braking to any other.

    Shock adjustments on an RS/GS

I have RT shocks on the front of my GS, and all 3 shocks set on the stiffest setting. Also use an Evo sway bar. I weigh 195. Corners real nice. Comfort? Who cares?

    Owners Poll: RT or RS?

The RT is more comfortable, but I don't ryde for comfort. I expect I will be running my old GS until BRP introduces a faster model with better handling.

Picked Up new Orange 2011 Rs S...now Questions

I bought mine without riding one, figuring my motorcycle experience would qualify me. Out of the showroom, countersteered instead of steered, grabbed for a handbrake that did not exist, struck a fence and tore off a mirror. Back into the shop for a $91 dollar repair. Shook me up a bit, but a...

    Winter Riding

Well, I ryde all year, but being a west coaster, it isn't much of a problem. A full face helmet, an extra sweater and maybe a pair of extra gloves under my riding gauntlets is enough for me. Oh, and rain gear, of course!
