Friends F3 motor chatter

Not sure if this normal sound of a F3 or not but wanted you all to take a listen. A friend of mine bought this bike about a month ago and noticed this noise coming from the motor area it could be normal but I have never been around the new 1330 motor so I couldn't say for sure. Play this video and see if it sounds odd to you all. Thanks

This is what I call "grinding pebbles" noise - check thread by canamchris (watching flatbed- something) - BRP is replacing his motor and plans to analyze his noisy motor - BRP should be receiving his motor this week. canamchris's dealer and now my dealer says to ride it and they will notify me when BRPs plan going forward is made known to them.

Recommend your friend contact his dealer so that BRP can know of others with this anomaly.

I would PM " Yazz ", she had some issues with her Transmission.......make sure she hears your video.....and see what She thinks ........Mike

Noice

I have the same noise on my F3, so does anyone know if this is normal or is there a problem a brewing

Thing is....

there are some different noises depending on the sm6 or se6. On the sm6 noise varies when the clutch is engaged or disengaged. The se6 has the hydraulic clutch. Is the noise constant or only at idle..?? It is sounding like a clutch thing but not a bad idea to have it listened to. Mileage will also play in here things need to wear in, at least some...

Well they can't all be faulty! Mine has the same engine noise and I believe it's normal. I expect it to
be quieter after the first oil/filter change. A new motor which is breaking in punishes the oil as internal temperatures are
increased due to the added friction of a 'tight' motor.

Took my F3 up to Spyderfest to have Len listen to the the noise in the transmission, while it's in neutral. He told me to take his F3 for a spin. His makes the same sound as on the video, and so does Lamonts F3.

Not worried about the noise any more, but looking forward to CanAmChris's report on the engine.

Hopefully my saga will be over soon. I have not gotten the bike back yet. It is a very long story that I will write up and post after everything is done.

Yazz, don't you have an SM-6? I had a personal theory going that it is only the SE-6s making the noise because the dealer's demo is a manual and it has no hint of the noise at all.

Yup, mine and Len's are a SM-6.

Good thing I leave it to the experts to figure things like this out. Anecdotal evidence is not evidence. It's just something human brains create to try to explain things. Thanks for the info Yazz. I hope that after the Can-Am techs have finished performing the autopsy on my engine they find no issues and that the sound is nothing to worry about.

Hi,

I have bought a CAN AM F3 2016 and this sound is still there ...

more or less noticeable but really disturbing and worrying

It disappear when engine is hot enough (3bars)

Did you had an answer from your dealer because here, in france, quite Impossible to obtain am answer ?

Thanks

One difference I didn't think of was the the F3 does not have tupperware in that area like the RT. That may be why it's louder, but my Daytona (5 weeks old) has the same noise.

Noticed the same type of noise on my F3. Call a master tech friend of mine and he said it was the timing change and it should clear up after an oil change. I was due for one and sure enough the chatter went away. Not sure if this is the same situation but for me an oil change fixed it. Because it's an open motor you will hear more noise than on an RT.
