I know this is a sore subject for many who have them on order and not received
them yet, but, also something to think about before purchasing.
To start with I've got about 1200m with them on (had since new) and do like the look and
design. There is no vibration, and they are water tight in the rain. They are heavier than you
might think, as the back is solid metal then fiberglass casement with material on the exterior.
ON THING YOU DO NOT SEE on the muffler side is that the bag is nicely contoured away from
the muffler underneath AND there is a heat shield in-place as-well.
I do though have some "quality control" items that I'd like others to chime in on if they have theirs.
1) The rear arm support locking mechanism. Not so "locking" IMHO. When the inner locking
dial is rotated, and the arm is sync'd with the front support, there is the ability to manually
move it backwards from outside the bag. I do not see where it truly "locks" in-place.
2) On the rear upper mount, the flexble tab... which is more of a safety add-on so that
it can not vibrate itself and come off. IF THAT TAB were machined a bit larger so there
is not but (lets say 1/16") movement, then I suspect the locking arm would stay engaged
better. Its just flexible plastic of a sort. (would not take much to make it a bit larger, drill
out the high-tech rivets, and make a better one)
3) The actual fit where the bag opening joins the bag. Come-on BRP, you could make that
a bit tighter of a fit with something less than a 1/8-1/4" gap.
Like 1st run of a product, there are growing pains... Would I purchase again, Yes.
THOUGHTS?
