In your case, you would see a good amount of improvement with the Ultra-Bar over our Original BajaRon Bar Kit.
I agree with CopperSpyder, though this has not been the universal order of business. The great majority have been quite happy going with the series of events as he has listed them.
CopperSpyder is correct again when he says that both bar kits will make a noticeable difference. And again when he says we recommend that you put maybe 800-1,000 miles on your Spyder before making upgrades. Though again, this has not been a universal approach and customers have been satisfied with putting a sway bar kit on right away. We had one customer ride his brand new Spyder the 3 miles from the dealership to our shop for a sway bar kit install.
The Ultra-Bar is not 'Stiffer' per se. It is simply more efficient. At higher stress levels, our Original sway bar starts to lose efficiency, and unwanted lean begins to creep in at those levels. I've gone into more detail on this elsewhere so I won't bore the other readers here. Suffice it to say that if you are a lighter rider, etc, etc, producing a lower amount of stress, then you don't need an Ultra-Bar. The Original BajaRon Bar will give you all you need. In any case, you can always call for a personal assessment of which bar will suit you best.
But for those who will bring additional stress to the suspension, heavy riders, (over 225 lbs.), riding 2-Up, etc, the Ultra-Bar will do a better job for you than our Original bar. The Ultra-Bar is not better than the Original Bar unless you're going to bring additional stress. And it's on a sliding scale. A 225 lb. rider who is very conservative in their style might not notice a great deal of difference between the Original BajaRon Bar and the Ultra-Bar, while a 190 lb. aggressive rider may see a fair amount of difference. Again, it all goes back to the amount of stress you're riding package and riding style will put on the suspension.
As with any installation, following the instructions are very important to a long and lasting happiness with the product. We do have customers who experience issues with both the arms and the bushings. This is obviously a concern. We've done a great deal of research and invested a good amount of time into solutions, finding that it all boils down to a proper install.
Some ignore the step-by-step instructions and install the Ultra-Bar the way they think it should be done. Some watch various Internet videos on the subject which might fail to cover some aspects. And a very few just don't do a very good job of it.
If you don't use the Blue Loctite supplied on the arm pinch bolts, they can back out.
If you do not torque the arm pinch bolts to the prescribed amount, they may give you issues.
If the Bushing Bolts (on either bar kit) are not tightened sufficiently, they can begin to clunk after a few hundred miles.
None of this should be a surprise to anyone.
Nor is this some highly technical, rocket science process. And to be honest, we have more issues with dealer installed Ultra-Bars than we do with owner installs. This is because most owners are quite anal about following our instructions (Way to Go!), whereas dealerships tend to just do what they feel (Time is Money). The Spyder goes out the door without a problem, so they think they've done it right and will do the next one the same way. But about 600 miles down the road, give or take depending on conditions, the Spyder owner starts hearing noises and things start going wrong.
We typically install at least a few Ultra-Bars a week here at the shop. We've been doing this for quite a few years now. All with ZERO issues. We have some other back yard garage mechanics located around the country who also install dozens of our Sway Bar Kits without issue. One of them will only install the Ultra-Bar kit.
So, stick to the plan, follow the instructions, and call us if you have any question at all. We are more than happy to work with you.
