• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

F3/F3S - Cross Country Saddlebags - Review/Thoughts

I know this is a sore subject for many who have them on order and not received
them yet, but, also something to think about before purchasing.

To start with I've got about 1200m with them on (had since new) and do like the look and
design. There is no vibration, and they are water tight in the rain. They are heavier than you
might think, as the back is solid metal then fiberglass casement with material on the exterior.
ON THING YOU DO NOT SEE on the muffler side is that the bag is nicely contoured away from
the muffler underneath AND there is a heat shield in-place as-well.

I do though have some "quality control" items that I'd like others to chime in on if they have theirs.

1) The rear arm support locking mechanism. Not so "locking" IMHO. When the inner locking
dial is rotated, and the arm is sync'd with the front support, there is the ability to manually
move it backwards from outside the bag. I do not see where it truly "locks" in-place.

2) On the rear upper mount, the flexble tab... which is more of a safety add-on so that
it can not vibrate itself and come off. IF THAT TAB were machined a bit larger so there
is not but (lets say 1/16") movement, then I suspect the locking arm would stay engaged
better. Its just flexible plastic of a sort. (would not take much to make it a bit larger, drill
out the high-tech rivets, and make a better one)

3) The actual fit where the bag opening joins the bag. Come-on BRP, you could make that
a bit tighter of a fit with something less than a 1/8-1/4" gap.

Like 1st run of a product, there are growing pains... Would I purchase again, Yes.

THOUGHTS?

I apologize for my lack of research but, two questions. What is the weight limit and what is your estimate about how much capacity it has with a full face already in it?

I think each side is rated at 15lbs... As for a FullFace (or even 3/4), there is no way to get one inside
one of these. So for travel you could use the front trunk for a FF helmet, or, we are just using the
LidLox on the handgrip ends if we stop somewhere with (2) FF helmets. The sides though, I can
cram a bunch of stuff in there as-long-as it is flexible. If there were some sort of rear flat-rack
behind the passenger backrest that would be perfect for some of the strap-on IronRider bags we
have. (Which are outstanding). I bet that would not be too hard to create.

Right now I have the lower part of the Frunk with a mini-compressor, tireplug kit, some tools, and
then we just slap a small 6-can cooler in there for water/gatoraid. The rear saddlebags for rainsuit
stuff...cloths...etc. (Creative Packing-101)

When Tom (on the official BRP F3 Saddlebag YouTube video) says "together" they hold 15 gallons (or 50 liters (whatever those are - 'Merica!) what does that equal in terms of cargo?

I assume that's 7.5 gallons each.

Does that fit.....say.....one full riding jacket in one bag?

I'd like to keep a full sleeve Joe Rocket jacket and liner in one and the other some lower rain gear, hat, long sleeve shirt and assorted riding glasses. Is that doable?

In my BRP bags for my ST fitting a full sleeve jacket wasn't a problem.

i guess it doesn't matter as mine are already ordered but I'd like to get perturbed now so I can enjoy the aesthetics whenever they decide the show up. ;)

Thanks.

Nice review..!!

they are nice looking. Capasity is not great but it was not a touring type anyway. Glad they are working out for you...
