There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Side car for RT?

Has anyone seen or heard of a side car rig for the RT? I am looking for ideas so we can take our dog with us. I know there are trailers for pets, but we tow a trailer already. Something that may fit behind the front wheel and go to about the passenger boards? Crazy thought, but we hate putting her in a kennel.

Depends..!

on your dog..?? How big and how heavy..?? Kennel over trailer if small, saw an outrigger kennel off the passenger grab bar for a small dog yorkie etc. Side car could work with a lot of custom work...:dontknow:

I too would be interested if there were a sidecar made for my rt-s, i could have my girlfriend behind me
and my wife in the sidecar.:yes: :lecturef_smilie:

I have been thinking about this mod for the last 3 yrs when we rescued our first dog(60 lbs). Now we have 2 dogs and I would love to take them on some road trips. Recently traded my '09 RS for a '14 RT-L, and have been too busy riding vs looking for possibly mounting spots.

While looking at ATV nerf bars, I came across this:http://www.prm-atv.com/index.php/products/atv-products/atv-heel-guards-nerfs/48-side-bars.html

So I don't think modifying these to the spyder will be a problem. How to access the seat might be, unless they can be rotated out of the way and secured with quick-disconnects.

Mounting removable kennels on top of the side-bars should be easy enough. Add dog harnesses for safety and you get two new spyder lovers.

Dog on Side

So some of you have also thought about this. I don't think an actual wheel would be needed. I think some kind of platform, like the large running boards that from front to back, but maybe a little wider. A box/container/coupe could then be mounted or built on top of that. Our dog is a lab/dane mix and weighs 80 lbs. She loves to ride in the truck and hang out the window. Of course we would use a harness or some kind of tether to keep her in the compartment. Goggles too, to be cool.

I might have to play around this winter.

Spyder Sidecar

I just returned from a cross-country trip, and at a gas stop a gentleman came over to talk about the Spyder. He insisted that he had seen a Spyder with a sidecar, but he didn't know anything about it. You can take that for whatever it may be worth.

His statement, PLUS a couple of bucks; might get you a decent cup of coffee... :coffee:

:gaah:....A sidecar....Really.....Have you given any thought to ......how wide a Spyder + a sidecar would be ......I'll tell you.....You would need a special permit from any DMV in any State to legally operate on a Public road ......that's how wide it would be :lecturef_smilie: :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:......Mikeguyver ................I have an English Bull dog ( see avatar ) and He loves his trailer which I built for about $100........

Maybe... :dontknow:

What if the right side storage compartment was removed, and the rig was tucked-in close? YOU mIGHT be able to keep it under 80"
(Measurement from the outside edge of the left-front wheel, to ???, in the right rear...)
Granted; it would probably not be a practical build... Who ever said that we had to be practical?? :D

AND THEN THERE'S THIS ???? MAYBE

.....In England they make a THREE wheel car ...the Morgan...if you import (?) it to the U.S. it has to be registered as a Mtc. because it only has 3 wheels. Sooooooooo if the Spyder effectively would now have 4 wheels would you lose the ability to reg.it as an MTC. and then HAVE TO possess all the Safety requirements of CARS ........Just a thought   :chat:.....Mikeguyver

Actually; the perfect time to keep quiet, is when you add the fourth wheel...
Don't tell them anything, and they won't know anything...

Louracing down near Philly, has been doing 4-wheel conversions.
