• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

my motobatt battery has sprung a leak. acid ate up the paint on the pass. footpeg mount, and ate a hole in the body panel that covers the battery. battery is 10 months old, and has performed perfectly, until now:mad:. e-mailed motobatt about it, we'll see what happens regarding the damage.

So are you sticking with a Motobatt replacement, going back to the OEM Yuasa, or doing something else? How about a hydrogen fuel cell? :joke:

it's leaking, i guess, out of a seam on what would be the top. it's guaranteed for two years so i expect them to send me a new one. when i got it, around christmas time last year, the box looked like it went thru hell, but the battery looked fine. i think maybe it wasn't.:roflblack:

I have found the vast majority of the lower priced batteries these days have leaking cases. Not sure if it is the Chinese glue, thinner cases, poor fit, inferior materials, or something else, about 90% seem to develop leaks withing a year or two. Just my experience. Your results may differ.
 
A good friend of mines brother works at Deka in PA out near Reading. We've been buying "Seconds" for several years as replacements for all of our power sports and cars and have never had an issue.
Deka batteries are sold under a variety of different names but they are pretty easy to spot.
I'm a huge Deka fanboi....:p However, I've never had an issues with Yuasa either. Just replace them when they get old.

I can't imagine a battery melting through my toys that way.....
 
motobatt?

i thought they were pretty good. very few batteries have a two year warranty. it cost around 125. i think it took a hard hit during shipping. i'm not going to lose any sleep over any of it.:roflblack:
 
Sorry to hear..!!

seems a bit soon even if they are known to leak eventually. If you find the leak and replace it with the same battery, maybe a tray with a drain line to the street...goid luck..!! :thumbup:

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Hope the supplier will make things right.
I suppose this defective battery was bought as a replacement battery for your OEM one...right?
Thought BRP was using Yuasa batteries as OEM equipment.
 
Well that really sucks!! I'm glad it didn't die on you last weekend when we were on the ride. Maybe it was those rough Kentucky roads that beat the battery up! Lol..

Are you sure that something else isn't going on ? Battery acid should not have eaten a hole in the plastic panel. In my years of selling batteries, I have seen the mess that acid will make on plastic but I have never seen acid eat through it.

i think some acid was laying in that spot in the panel for a while and just ate it up. now i'm in the process of jumping through hoops to get a new battery.:mad:i guess no riding this weekend. s:cus:t !
 
up-date

got the replacement battery today. it leaks. inside of corner of box is wet. this is getting old. i've never heard of any spyder battery leaking before, and i get TWO of them? i think i'll go get a lottery ticket.:roflblack:

Screw kindness!!!!! Lol... This will be 2-3 weeks of lost ride time. I'd be inserting my foot in someone's arse....
