• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rev Limiter Question

The Rev Limiter is designed to shut off the fuel and spark if the engine RPMs exceed 9500. However, if the Spyder is run to 9000 RPM in third gear (SM5) and instead of shifting to 4th, the ryder mistakenly downshifts into 2nd, then the Rev Limiter will not be able to keep the bike's momentum from running the engine well past the 9500 RPM mark.

So here's the question. What about with the SE5 transmission? Will Nanny let you downshift if the result would be to cause the engine to exceed the 9500 RPM limit?

Do you think that you'll be able to talk anybody into trying??
My gut tells me that ESSIE wouldn't allow it; but it's just my gut talking! ;)

Found This in 2013 Maintenance Manual

"When the gearshift selector is pulled (downshift), the TCM will signal the corresponding solenoid valves on the HCM to shift the gearbox down one gear as long as it does not cause the engine RPM to exceed preset parameters."

It looks like Nanny won't let you downshift the SE5 if it would result in an over-rev situation.

Michigan is a little too far for a weekend jaunt. But you feel free to push that BIG RED BUTTON and let us know what happens.:clap:
