This post concerns me because I wonder if there are other problems with this RT. I had the deluxe Seal boards last summer and I did have heat issues while riding at the owners event in Durango. I had Harvey install his block off plate and relief was immediate. We rode with temps over 100 every day and my foot stayed cool and the temp gauge never went past mid-range.
I have switched to Seal Pups and added Lamont's NBV highway pegs and still do not have a problem with heat here in south GA and North FL - where it is quite warm. In fact, I kind of miss the heat in the winter because it was nice to let the heat go up my pant leg ...
I guess some of the questions I might ask: Is this rider spending a lot of time in traffic or idling? Did the dealer remove the lower plate, as recommended by the block off plate instructions? Did they install it properly? Is there a problem with the fan controller? As I recall, the heat really blows out only when the fan is on.
Now, I will admit that many on here would disagree with the way I ride but what can I say. I am always in the highest gear possible, which keeps the RPMs down. I can do this with an SM 5 - and, before I get flamed, everything runs great, I don't lug the engine and there is plenty of power if I need it. I am also lucky that I seldom have to ride in traffic, which keeps air moving.
Not an expert here but I would check for proper installation of the block off plate and then have the fan controller checked out. BUDS can probably pull up a history of engine temps.
Thanks for letting me vent ...:gaah:
