There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. LASIK eye surgery was done on Friday, when preparing for it I missed the line about no motorcycle riding for two weeks. In post op I was talking about how good it was going to be to Ryde with out having to push my glasses up to see. The dr dropped the hammer on me about no ryding until after the second follow up in 2 weeks:yikes:! TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!
Up side is that I can see really well, and I spent a fair amount on some new sunglasses today and I didn't have to wait for the lenses to be sized and installed!

To those thinking about it, I am enjoying not cleaning my glasses and there was no discomfort to talk about, well except for the TWO WEEKS! I will work hard to make it one week but I have doubts about two weeks... Oh and since I won't be ryding I may be hitting the forum a lot more, causing trouble of course.

I understand your delima....

I had catarac/lense replacement three years ago. It was the best thing I've ever done as far as eye treatment. I have 20-20 now and will until I die according to my eye doctor. You will see colors and things you didn't even know existed.:bowdown:smoky

So what was your vision before? I've been considering this surgery but my eyes are not really bad. Still, I hate glasses. I'd love to get back to just needing sunglasses on bright days.

My RX was not that bad, I could see without the glasses, but if I wanted HD vision and the ability to read street signs I needed the glasses. I got all the farkles I want on the bike so I farkled my eyes, Um didn't really mean for that to sound so naughty.

Mike,
Puleeeze take good care of your eyeballs!
I've had a detached retina due to diabetic retinopathy (20/360 is all that's left)
I've had a cataract removed
I've had all the laser photocoagulation treatments that a pair of eyeballs can take...
You'll only ever have one set of them... don't bugger them up!
If they want you to take a seat in the easy chair for a couple of weeks... it'll be worth it in the long haul!

I had Lasik done back in 09 and it is the best money i have ever spent. No more glasses while hunting or fishing. It was well worth the money! I would recommend Lasik to anyone! You will not be disappointed. Those 2 weeks are going to go by fast and you will be back on your spyder before you know it! Happy riding.

I agree with you 100% looking at it now it took me 15 years to decide this was a good decision, and now that it's done I plan on following most all of the dr's orders but let me make this a bit clearer. T W O W E E K S!!!!!!! And it ain't 105 degrees any more this is killing me already. I'm doing to get me a drink!

This is a curiosity question. No motorcycles for 2 weeks but what about driving a car? Can you drive but not ride? If your riding with a helmet and behind a windshield, what's the difference? :dontknow:

Don't know why some docs are so conservative. LASIK has gotten so advanced now, a patient is at very low risk of any problems when returning back to normal daily activity.

I think it has something to do with drying out the eyes, and healing time.

If you lived in CA, you probably could smoke weed legally !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :coffee:

I had Lasik done in 1996, still don't wear glasses at all, even near vision still good. Anyhow, i drove to work the next day and was riding motorcycle the following weekend (3 days later). I also had to get a form filled out by doctor for FAA and that was done the next week. The eye is all but healed the next day. Fear is for dryness and or infection. I had to do 2 eyedrops each day for 2 weeks. One antibiotic and one anti inflammatory. Most likely you could ride next day with a faceshield. Doc is probably worried that you might be at extra risk, which he might share, if you had dryness or infection.

Both my husband and I had Lasik in 2000 and we are both wearing glasses again. If you have your vision corrected for distance it does nothing to correct or stop your close vision from changing. I have now developed a cataract and am looking forward to surgery/lense replacement so maybe I'll be able to see again without glasses.

For me it turned out to be a lot of money spent for about 5 years of no glasses. Not a very good return on investment.

I had Lasik in 1999, and I love it. After the surgery, I recall not riding for a couple weeks to. I've been very pleased, although as I've aged, I use over the counter readers. Otherwise, perfect.
Enjoy.

I had LASIK done back in 2009 as well, and have no regrets  I would definately wait till the initial healing is done, you DO NOT want to get something accidently blown into your eyes. Natural instinct would be to rub your eye's which is a big NO NO :lecturef_smilie:!!!! Take your time with healing, it is well worth the wait. I now have 20/20 in left eye and 20/15 in the right. Some of the best money I ever spent. Take care of yourself
