There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Another happy result from Lasik back in 2000. The interesting thing my doc did was fix one eye for distance and the other for reading. Still going good after 12 years and last check-up was still 20-20 vision. However, the down side to the procedure is a permanent dry eye condition so I keep the eye drop companies in business. :sour: My workplace is super dry but when I am riding, no problems what so ever. Definitely the best decision I made since my prescription back then was 20-400 and I was allergic to many of the frames (metal, plastic, etc.) and lens material resting on my face.

Take care and follow the doctor's orders and I'm sure you'll be a very happy :spyder2: ryder in no time!

You may want to check out getting some punctal plugs, they close up the natural tear duct drains keeping more wetness on the eye. There are temporary cologin plugs that last up to 45 days, and permanent plugs made of silicone or some such thing. I got the temp plugs to fight the dry eyes during recovery, easy procedure.

Hey!
How's the Bronz Fonz doing?
The bronz fonz is still waiting for its rider to get a license but has taken to the road a few times, I wont ride it since it doesn't have the VTC floorboards or a Corbin seat. It feels more like a lawn chair compared to my lazyboy set up on Silver Star

Been considering LASIK myself. Tired of glasses, been wearing them since I was in 5th grade. Near vision is fair but distance is horrific w/o them. I have to wear safety glasses at work with side shields, would really like to wear some of the newer stylish wraparounds. My company won't pay for them in Rx form.

Well if you're stuck with nothing to do for a while; there's a project for you! :2thumbs:

Start with leaving the manuals laying about all over, then put the DMV licensing hotline on the 'fridge... mention aomething about getting that license before the summer is all shot... You can have fun for days!! :roflblack:

I also had lasik back in 2000 and still have great distance and "everyday" vision. In the last 2 years, I've started wearing readers for work on the computer and reading, but my eye doc says that's normal for my age.

I also suffer from the dry eyes following lasik and I got punctal plugs -- they made a huge difference and I don't usually have to use drops anymore. They feel weird for a few days, but once you get used to them, you don't even notice them.

Day 4

All I have now is a very slight dry eye feeling and a halo starburst thing at night with lights. No pain but I feel like readers may be in my nearer future I am at this time happy with the sight I now have.

The technology of LASIK has vastly improved over the last 5 years. Dry eye symptoms are decreasing. Corneal flap creation is becoming a lot more consistent now that we use the new IntraLase. Patient comfort and healing has been vastly improved, and the risk of regression back towards myopia is decreasing. So you have to take these things into consideration when listening to a patient who's had this done 10 years ago. Facts are it's just not the same.

Also Lasik is "mostly" for distance vision....which means if you want to enjoy it without glasses at all, you have to do it before the age of 40. After age 40, your internal lens of the eye (responsible for focusing up close) loses its elasticity and you will need glasses to read up close. Lasik can not prevent this because it is a procedure for the external surface of the eye (cornea), not for internal structures such as the lens.

But even in knowing all this, I would still trade distance vision for near vision. In ratio, distance vision is used 90% of the time in life, and is the most important on the grand scale of things. Popping on some reading glasses hear and there is nothing to not being able to see sharp down the road for driving these spyders.

I recommend Lasik to any of my patients who desire it. It is a great procedure well worth the value.

Ok another thing about LASIK. I had one of those ren and stimpy "oh joy" moments when I was out in the rain last night and realized I would not have to wipe off my glasses and I didn't need to find a hat to cover the glasses. Sometimes it's the little things that make a day good!

LASIK for me was a great investment with no regrets! I had it done 3 years ago and have had no hiccups along the way. I too was told no riding for a couple of weeks but I was able to play golf a few days later . At the time of the surgery I was not a HAPPY :spyder2: Owner so no riding was not that big of a deal to me.

Enjoy your new found worrie free vision.

BACK IN THE SADDLE

It has officially been 2 weeks and I was a good boy. Had check up today and am at 20/20 in left and slightly worse in right, but that will still potentially improve. I would break out in song and dance but I have to go ryding now!

LASIK eye surgery was done. n Friday, when preparing for it I missed the line about no motorcycle riding for two weeks. In post op I was talking about how good it was going to be to Ryde with out having to push my glasses up to see. The dr dropped the hammer on me about no ryding until after the second follow up in 2 weeks:yikes:! TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!
Up side is that I can see really well, and I spent a fair amount on some new sunglasses today and I didn't have to wait for the lenses to be sized and installed!

To those thinking about it, I am enjoying not cleaning my glasses and there was no discomfort to talk about, well except for the TWO WEEKS! I will work hard to make it one week but I have doubts about two weeks... Oh and since I won't be ryding I may be hitting the forum a lot more, causing trouble of course.
Has the block off plate help you with the heat on the right side. Trying to get touch up paint for my vertika floorboards, any idea where I can get it ?

I too have had my wings clipped, but for 3 weeks :yikes: I had surgery to repair a torn retina. It's a bummer because we have recently had some beautiful weather with temps in the low 80's and high 70's. Oh well the fall is coming and that's a great time to ride in Minnesota! Hope your 2 weeks fly by quickly and you are back on your spyder soon.
