The State trooper wrote the ticket for 80+ in a 55. I'm not sure exactly how fast I was going, only becuase I was concentraiting on getting past a truck that was trailering a bike and I dont always like to sit in the left high speed lane.
I could fight it, but he also did mark down that it was clocked.
I did get a failure to stop at a red light about two years ago, that only digned me for my "safe driver" points. But this ticket may actually ding my insurance.
The statie did say, allways look in your rear view mirrors, especially if one of these is behind you... he pointed to his car.
Is it still worth the $50 in hearing costs to "fight"?
YES. With your previous good driving record you can simply tell them you really want to continue your clean record, explain that you were indeed passing a truck and trailer that were buffetting you with a lot of wind.. and let them know how such winds affect the Spyder....blah blah blah.....ask them if you can get some kind of deferral. You can do this without even going to court.
My last one I got in Indiana... handled the whole thing over the phone. I had already pled not guilty and mailed the ticket in... received the court date via mail from them.
I then mailed them a Discovery Request asking for many items related to the case. Chances are they will get the idea you know a thing or two about fighting your case and not want to jump through all the hoops and do all the work... so they'll offer a deferral instead. That is what happened to me. Here is a sample of a Discovery Request.. you can just change and fill in the various things needed.....
Make it look as legal and formal as you can.
