• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hello all,

I'm sure everyone's seen the hybrid Spyder that BRP has showing.
There certainly is a market for that and I hope they sell thousands of them.
I feel that hybrid systems tend to introduce more complexity.

So upon further reflection I thought why not a diesel, esp. a turbo diesel?
I'm sure Rotax could whip up a decent diesel twin or a large diesel single and they could even talk to AeroCharger about a turbo. You then get the mileage and with diesel grunt could be more potent then a petrol burner.

It is even weird enough for BRP and Spyder. :f_spider:

The Rotax engine can't handle a Turbo. It will blow. Ask Doc !!! :roflblack::roflblack:

...and I'll bet that you'd be the only human on the planet capable of keeping up with it...
(Are those llamas working on circuitboard designs yet?? :roflblack:)

No thanks... My oil burner is in the basement! :roflblack: The extra weight of it would make a heavy bike...heavier!
Look at the LMP1 race cars that are turbo diesels in the lemans series. A good example is the Audi R10. There are also diesels being certified for aircraft use. I think this blows the excess weight and poor performance argument out of the water.

I drive a VW diesel and get over 40 mpg. The turbo makes it very fast and powerful. I would love to see one in my :spyder2:. It would be heavier, but would give you everything that you would want. Power, speed , torque. and mileage.

Wasn't going to mention my stupidity on the forum, but saw your posts and just had to share!
Rode my :spyder2: last week to St. Louis and accidentally put diesel in the tank. Had about 3 gallons of gas in tank before adding .9 gallons of diesel, then realized mistake :yikes: and filled the rest with 87 octane. Prayed for about 500 miles and the :spyder2: never missed a beat!

I guess I do have a HYBRID !
