Mileage pins

So. I sent in a mileage pin request to BRP. They sent me a decline email. Politely BTW.

I responded, Well my first Spyder had 1100 miles on it and this one has 4400. SO I am well over the mileage requirement. And that their system only allows for a single picture in each space there by not allowing me to offer the second picture to be of assistance...

They kindly responded this...

Hey (Name deleted),

Thanks for responding so quickly. We are going to go ahead and publish your entry. I just want to let you know that we will not roll over miles you’re your next pin though. For example, you must reach 25,000 miles before submitting your next request (and get that second pin!)! Keep riding !!

Thanks,

Zoe

And now that 4400 Miles on our new RT-S shows 400 miles because we had the gauge cluster changed. Looks like I need to do closer to another 30,000 miles before another pin :dontknow::lecturef_smilie::gaah:

Question:
How long did it take for them to respond? I sent in my request for a 5K pin a couple of weeks ago... How long should I wait before I let my impatience break through?

I personally think using the mileage patches from CAT specialties is one solution. That way you can have reinforcement more often 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100K instead of 5, 25, and 100K from BRP. Also you can choose to accumulate mileage among Spyders that you own.. It seems to me that the Spyder miles that you ride in total is more important to you than how much mileage you have on an individual bike..

I sent the request early last week, she responded on Friday, I responded back. This email is that response from today. Pretty fast.

I have mentioned this in a few threads, this year and last year...

BRP shuts down it's operations systematically in June. So no less than 50% of their staff is out during June. This causes priorities to be made and the likes (Just like we do in our own businesses). Pretty much everyone is now getting into their new roles (If changed) and BRP is getting back to it's normal operating level. They have to re-tool every year. This is a part of that process for some plants, other switch over now to Snowmobiles and such...

Wow what great service! She already responded to my question.

Unfortunately, yes. But going another 5,000 miles on your Spyder should be no problem, right?

So for any of us that had the Cluster changed... We start over. :(:(:( :lecturef_smilie:

Thank you for your idea!

But no, it is not actually that important to us. I was trying to be more of a help to those of us that had the cluster changed and what at this moment we can expect to have happen.

I found that as long as I can communicate with BRP, we usually find a good resolution. But seeing that there is no way for them to track how many miles a bike had (It is clear the Pin approval team is outsourced and not an internal BRP function) before the cluster change. I can understand why they said I had to start over.

We never really tracked by miles before. it was always by how many States. This is new to us :2thumbs:

i think carlo at mv said just to email a copy of your work order showing the old mileage and cluster replacement and they will honor past mileage on same bike

i also suggested to their mktg guy that they add ability for passenger to get same mileage pin as Harley does.. since both rider and passenger do the miles. in our case we switch off when traveling so we each drive half total mileage approx.

I quit seeking mileage pins after BRP said they would not roll over mileage in 2009. I use the CAT patches for my vest--less hassle--and they look pretty good too.

You would think BRP would be happy to have people advertising big mileage achievements on their machine.

Sure, there may be some who would cheat--but that is something the person has to live with.

IMHO: People like me who have owned multiple :spyder2:'s (3 for me--2008, 2009, 2010) should be allowed to combine mileage--you would think BRP would be happy with repeat customers.

I've never applied for the pin I'm at 25k+ now am I too late or will I get all at once:dontknow:

I just ordered the mileage patch from CAT.....sewed it to my demin shirt from CAT.....along with Spyderlovers patch.....I'll keep track myself...BRP can keep track when I take her in.....to the dealer

I submitted for my 5k pin in January, waited three months... no pin. Submitted again, waited almost another three months... still no pin. At Maggie Valley I talked to Chaz and he had one of the gals bring two over for SpyderRider and me. The cute young gal told me she also had a 100k pin in her pocket and I should have stretched the truth a "little". :shemademe_smilie:

Well I am not a newbee, but I have never heard of mileage pins from BRP. Granted I am not one to be on the computer 24x7, but is there a BRP site I should also be looking at? We have not had any problems with our Spyders that our great dealer "Cowtown" has not been able to resolve in a very short time frame.

I have had trouble submitting my picture for the mileage pin, is there an email address I can simply email the information to?

Got my 5,000 mile - no problem.....

Filed for my 25,000 mile --- and they sent a letter congratulating me on 25,000 miles --- and they sent me another 5,000 mile pin by mistake. :(

So now I need the 25,000 pin-- will try and file again and tell them of the mixup.

The patches are a fine idea, but I want the official BRP recognition pins.

your mileage cluster must match the failed odometer reading. the factory is required to program the last mileage, into the new replacement unit. and to the best of my knowledge... that is a US DOT requirement; so someone can't sell an altered odometer, to some poor unsuspecting boob.

unless that has changed since 1998, when I worked for H-D... it still goes. get your dealership to have it set correctly. your call...

If this is true... I have not yet read a single Spyder owner as of yet that has had this happen. This is not to say it has not of course, not all 35,000 owners are on the websites. I am just saying I have not heard of this.

I sure would like clarification though! nojoke
