• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Thank you Lamont, Carlo called

I am so sorry to hear about what has happened to you guys. I know you both really love your Spyders and it's ridiculous what they are putting you guys through. I hope it is resolved quickly so you can get back on the road.

One of the several sad things here is you consider the Carlos responce after four mos. to be "quick". When did your dealer call them for help? or did they ever call them? Although Lamonts help is alway appreciated it should'nt come to that. Your dealer should be ashamed. This whole thing is sad and you guys deserve better.

We did not call Carlo before. We have been sitting around accepting all the reasons and excuses that our service manager has given us up to this point. He has always been a stand up guy and we have always had great service. We had no reason to believe anything other than what we were being told. Lamont contacted Carlo on our behalf.

Right now, I am finally mad though. Brian spoke with Carlo again today and it seems that the latest hold up is just that they are not getting to our spyders, it is snowmobile season after all. Well as Brian pointed out, we ride potentially 5-7 days a week, year round, snowmobiles ride a long weekend every week or so. So who needs their machine more, I think we do. We plan on calling the owner tomorrow, and inform him of how unhappy we are now. How we have recommended them in the past and how we are not sure that would be the case now. Carlo is giving as much pull as possible but this is not a franchise dealership so BRP really doesn't have any pull in the matter. I think it is time for me to be on the phone every day and visiting the dealer once or twice a week until they are so tired of me they fix my spyder.

:gaah:

Wow! How did Carlo find this out - the dealer admitted that to him? "well gee Carlo, since it's sled season here we've been too busy to get to the :spyder2:s but we will once the snow melts" WTH?! &)(*&$$$^&^%$

Well at least it's been found out and now yeah - go get 'em! We got your back!

If you need me to bring over the trailer so we can load either (or both) Spyders (and parts) and take them elsewhere, under Carlo's direction, let me know. I know it's not a preferable option, but it may give you a bargaining chip.

Funny... I had that same thought at the start of this thread. Remind them that the Spyders are Snowmobiles with wheels????:dontknow:

Problem is... they took it apart... How would you even know that you had everything if you took it to another dealer. Best bet is to have them finish the job. Another bet is to pay a lawyer to write a letter to the dealership. Might be worth the investment to get something done. -after all, making payments on something for four months and not having use of it is kinda crappy eh? It would be a like a game of chicken though.

Can Carlo threaten to get another dealer involved and threaten to not pay them for the warranty time they've got invested so far? On the other hand, they may try sticking you with a bill given they haven't completed the warranty work and you could pull the bike to another dealer. You are in an almost no win situation... play the game carefully.

Deb- Perhaps a reminder that It sure wasn't snowmobile season when they took them apart.....??????????
My dealer is a big sled dealer also and has 2 spyders and 3 motorcycles apart now working on them right along with the sleds. (has 4 techs total, one is prep so really 3) I am shocked at the old school thinking of some dealers. In my book this would be so far past acceptable at this point ....

I've seen two spyders torn down completely this summer and fall at his shop (one melted a clutch, rider error and filled the motor with aluminum and fiber clutch material, that motor was taken out, taken apart down to the last bolt , new bearings , clutch etc and was running in 5 business days, the other was the same teardown repair but due to oil starvation and required way more parts and was out of service 10 days.) Absurd isn't the word of what you're going through. If this is a BRP sled dealer and does not sell bikes you may have a good diagnostician but asking a guy that has limited bike motor tear downs under his belt to do any major motor work would be like asking a dentist to set a broken ankle. Most sled techs (and weekend warriors) can have a 2 stroke sled motor apart and back together completely rebuilt in about 4 hours. Drop the 990 motor on them and they start babbling funny words in a broken dialect and find a million excuses why they need to fix someone elses sled first. Trust me been there done that.

:agree:

If you switch mid-stream to another dealer you're just asking for trouble. If anything ends up wrong they will both end up pointing the finger at the other. I still contend warranty repairs might get put on the back burner because the dealer doesn't make as much on them.

I would have flipped a cap by now!

I agree I remember cars sitting apart in garage for long periods of time when I was a mechanic .... Not good ...,, old stuff or difficult cars to get parts for ...
I would tell them straight out box it up I'm picking it up

I'd want them out of there - not sure if there is a better dealer around them or not. They should ship their Spyders to my dealer on their dealer's tab!

Boy I feel your pain. I've had my issues with services depts and know what I feels l . But nothing as long as you.

Just as a side note, was it snow season 4 mos. ago? These guys don't sound to good to me. They don't seem concerned with future sales.
