• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

500 miles now, oil change?

The manual is vague, but I do know that often just after a break in period I have had to do oil changes on other bikes.

1st oil change at 6,000 miles. My last motortrike (Piaggio MP-3 500), Manual stated 1st oil change @ 500 miles. The Ryker Manual clearly specifies 1st one at 6,000 miles.

Last Fall, got a brand new RV w/Powerstoke engine. It specifies 1st oil change at 10,000 miles. The old days are GONE for the most part requiring an early oil change along with a very careful break-in period.

Every Rotax engine is run & tested in the factory before being drained for freighting & delivery to dealers all over the place. So the days of needing a specific 'run in' type oil or restricted duration for the initial owners oil are long past! First change for the new Ryker owner is now 6000 miles, any swarf or manufacturing remnants left the engine with the oil drain that occurred in the factory before it left for the dealer!

I'm changing mine to full synthetic at 500 miles. Feel free to do what you want though. Now if my Ryker would just come in I would be even more happy.

I know what the manual says........... I am gonna ignore it. I am changing it at 2,500 and then every 5,000 after that.
