• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I ADDED THIS TO MY STABLE OF TOYS

I don't know if you saw all 22 pics ..... what He didn't show was pics of the car all together .... there is only minor cosmetic stuff the finish it ... right now it's all together waiting for the Transporter to show up  :2excited: .... Mike

One thing I have learned over the years is that something that looks almost finished can take months or years to really complete. I have several cousins that have built cars over the last decades.

Mike, first thing I would do with that car is take it to a really good front end mechanic and get a proper alignment done. That is a custom frame, so a custom alignment will be in order. Last thing you need is to finish the car and loose control of it on your first drive. You know how the Spyders are with a crappy alignment. A car with 400+ hp would be so much worst.

My cousin, once removed, has a business in Texas that is exclusively Porsche. People ship their cars from all over the country to him to be worked on. If you want some info, I'll find his contact info for you. You might get some tips.

Hi Patti,

Re: My cousin, once removed, has a business in Texas that is exclusively Porsche. People with too much money ship their cars from all over the country to him to be worked on. If you want some info, I'll find his contact info for you. You might get some tips.

Thanks Patti but if saw ALL the photo's you would see that this car isn't a real Porsche 917 .... the body is a replica ... the engine is a mildly massaged Chevy 350 ...dbl 750's that are water cooled on a mid rise manifold .... 400 plus hp ........ Mike

Congratulations!

WOW that is one super sweet ride even if it is a replica.

I hope it gives you endless entertainment!

Congrats again:yes::clap::clap::clap:

I wonder if you're going to be able to license it. I heard the reason kit cars died out years ago (this is a 1967 model) was because of auto safety standards. Kit cars don't/can't meet them. Anything that doesn't meet the safety standards for motor vehicles can't be registered, so no license.

REGISTERING

I've built TWO , No issues with registering ....... Google - Factory Five , they have Sold over 5,000 kits which need assembled by the buyer ..... I am on their Forum and Never heard of that problem ... The law on registering Kit Cars only deal with State inspection laws , like DOT lighting etc..... A good question tho .....Mike

two cars

 You've built TWO Factory 5 cars????
I always wanted to get one of their Cobras for the Missus...
#1 - is the 427 roadster ....... #2. is the Cobra " Daytona Coupe " , this was designed by Brock Yates for Carroll ... ( and only built SIX of them ) ..... He then ran 1-2-3- at Lemans and shut Enzo out :roflblack: .... Enzo was so PI**ED off He didn't bring the Ferrari's the following year ...... then Ford showed up the GT 40's .... and kicked some more A** :dg1:American Iron - ya gotta love it .... Mike
