• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil level check results confusing to me

So, can someone decipher this oil level check step? I 'assume' it's written in Canadian :dontknow:

3. Let the engine idle for 10 minutes at least 20 seconds.

I know this is an old thread, but I found it when trying to answer the same question. For those researching later, I wrote BRP, and got this reply:

"Hello Allen,

Thank you for contacting BRP..

I apologize for the confusion, the instructions should say; "Let the engine idle for at least 20 seconds, up to 10 minutes"

In the meantime, if you need additional assistance you can reply to this email or call us at 1-888-272-9222. My colleagues and I are here to help.

Have a great day,

BRP seem to be trying to make things confusing just cos they can, but really, Mike covered it all very clearly here:

If you don't mind A - wasting time; or B - wasting gas... do it like the book says.

However, me and thousands of others here
only check the oil level after a ride of at least 10 minutes. So unless there is a huge oil puddle under the Spyder when you want to ride again - the level will be fine... :congrats: ..... Mike ;)

Idling for 10 minutes is a bad idea in any case. As already mentioned, riding is a much better approach, and more fun to boot!

BRP does not recommend only letting it idle. To be clear, the (clarified) instructions say ride at least 9 miles, and then let idle between 20 seconds and 10 minutes. I personally, will go for the idle 20-30 seconds route after the ride, which is how long it will take me to get off the bike, get the seat up, etc.
