• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Steering Recall Update

I called my dealer (DDS Motorsports) this morning, and he received the recall notice from BRP. Rather than re-flash the DPS, he went ahead and replaced the unit (2008 SM5) with a new power steering unit. Good stuff!

The recall is going to involve a software update - so you probably still have to get your computer updated when the patch becomes available. Depending on what they replaced, it may not even have the computer in it.

You can print and take the thread to your dealer. However, they may not know the fix yet. Basically the document states that BRP will begin notifying the dealers of the fix begining July 6th. So your dealer may not have the fix yet. So, don't be dissapointed if they tel you that they haven't got the fix yet.

I put a down-payment on my bike on July 3rd and picked it up last night. I told my sales lady three times to make sure the recall work was done before I picked up the bike.

When I asked the Service Manager for the maintenace records for the recall work, he had no idea what I was talking about.

The steering recall fix is still being finalized---- they are testing the software update - so your dealer couldn't do it yet.

I was also quoted $750 for the 12K service which doesn't include the labor for changing out the rear tire. I plan on doing the fluid and filter changes myself and purchasing the Kuhmo tire mentioned for them to do. The only thing they will be doing is the rear suspension inspection, rear wheel bearing inspection, front suspension inspection, valve clearance check, and changing out the rear tire. I expect to walk out paying no more than $600 after it's all said and done. I'll know in a few weeks.

:agree:
You're right about that. I got to thinking about this yesterday when I was at work, but forgot to return to the thread. I'll still get the patch done once BRP finalizes it. Thanks!

when i had my 12000 done, original quote was 680. i did fluid and filters and spark plugs myself and took it in and it was dropped to 478 dollars.

I just got a call from our dealership late this afternoon telling us it was official on BossWeb and to bring our spyders in at our convenience and they would hook them up and download the upgrade. Shouldn't take too long. Just in time too, it seems bjt's steering is starting to act up on him a bit. This is his first issue with his spyder since we got it in March of 2008.

Mine stated the same thing. Stated to bring it in next week, and they would be all set.

My dealership went out of business!:helpsmilie:

BRP post says to call an authorized dealer to set up a service appointment. It doesn't have to be your selling dealer. I bought in Brighton (60 miles) and I plan to call the dealer in Mason (30 miles) to see if they will do it. No issues with my selling dealer other than distance.

I had my first service done today, Mosites Motorsports in Irwin, I thought $195 was too much. Anyway, the dealership did have the patch and installed it during my appointment. They also replaced a sensor for shifting on my SE5. Parts don't seem to be expensive, but the labor rate is out of control. My next sevice will be done on my lift in my garage.

My dealer told me today about the recall. He said bring the bike in this week and they well reprogram the steering part of the computer. While I wait. Can't wait to see the difference in my time "while you wait" and there's :roflblack:
