• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder question

Hello I have 2009 Can Am Spyder RSS SM5 manual transmission with a power commander and a two brothers exhaust on it. I took the spyder into the dealer today to get the codes read, and the dealer read the codes and stated to me that the codes all occurred and were not active. But, here are the codes and the main problem I have is that the spyder will say “hi temp” and then go into “limp home mode” while on the freeway (not while in idle), I can pull over for about 10 seconds and it will go back to normal operating temperature. Since I got the codes read I think the issue can be fixed, but does anyone have any ideas?

Is it actually overheating, or are your temps normal and just throwing an overheat code?
Your lamda codes also make me think you have a failing o2 sensor.
The random loss of coms to the cluster, vss, stability codes I've seen a few times and suspect a battery getting weak. Unless you've had things apart recently.

Sensor

I replaced my O2 sensor when it threw a few codes as well as oil pressure sensor , runs great now .... So far

No it is not overheating.

I also just replaced my battery.

Where do I find the 02 Sensor?

The O2 sensor is on the exhaust pipe. Its on the bottom of the Spyder right where the exhaust transitions from 2 pipes into 1.

No clue. That's an odd one. Throwing a code for overheating but not overheating and no signs of it on the gauge? Odd for sure.

If it were mine I'd bypass the power commander and see if you still throw codes....but I'm completely guessing...

This is what I found concerning P1116 Eng Coolant Temp Sig Unstable or Interm, is there some sensor for the coolant system?

Someitmes in the complexity of the trouble codes extraneous codes are generated.
This is known as a code cascade.
I would handle the Ox sensor problem first.

What about the pressure and temp sensor (part number 707000995) do you think that could be the reason for P1116?

I wouldn't suspect that sensor for an engine temp code.
That sensor measures air temp/pressure for fueling.

Normally I might suspect an engine temp sensor, but your saying you saw no overheat on the gauge?

With all those different codes especially the communication codes, I would suspect a bad battery or ground connection.
You say battery was just replaced? Who replaced it? You may want to check your battery connection and the frame ground connection.

Interesting. ...

i would check the power commander and see what is hooked up to the o2 sensor. Some fuel controlers required their own o2 senor there could be some miscommunications going on there. Is the engine overheating or is the air going into the throttle bodies hotter than normal. :dontknow:

No the bike doesn't actually overheat, the engine doesn't overheat either. I can be travelling at about 60 mph, it will then send the temp gauge into "hi temp", then it says "limp home mode" with engine light flashing. I can pull off the road for about 10-20 seconds, restart the bike and it is back to normal operating temperature.
