$50 surcharge, but with that you get a free lottery ticket, or lobster tail, depending on current market prices.

Just having a surf.
I am in New Zealand. We have have a road user tax.
Normal cars on petrol its built in at the pump.
Diesel and other stuff you have to buy your Road User Charges ( RUC's) in advance in 1000 k lots.
HMV's trucks - 40 odd tons pay more than a ute / or pick up truck.
Its recorded by your vehicle speed odometer or trucks and stuff by something called a Hubodometers. Its calibrated on wheel size. That records the distance traveled.
Once you have paid in advance your RUC's you get a label that sits on the inside of your screen.
From memory and its been a while. If your stopped and checked and your label is way behind the recorded distance the instant fine is something like 4 x what you should have paid. Do not pass go. No GPS .

They will have RUCs soon. But they have a Honeymoon period at the moment .
