Zumo 660...I was amazed

Yesterday I was going for a ride and was traveling about 45 mph when my Zumo 660 fell off the bike. (Apparently I hadn't locked it into the mount). It bounced down the road about 30 feet, battery compartment opened and battery joined the rest.

Walked back, picked everything up, and put the battery back in. Except for a MINOR scratch on the case, the Zumo worked like a charm!! Just make sure your GPS is solidly locked into its mount...du-uh

Hey irish, that's excellent news on the breakage, or lack thereof.

However, following the threads over the past few weeks it would be safe, consistent, and expected, to blame BRP for the Zumo falling off the mount.

It takes less than a second for stuff like that to happen -- usually a nano-second.

Or, once it registers, an ohno-second. ;-)

Glad it worked out. I'm considering a GPS and am collecting all the evidence I can to rationalize my decision -- thanks for posting.

It appears that when Garmin specs a product to be vibration proof they managed to succeed.

This is taking testing it to the extreme though . . .

Got the zumo 550...hasn't fallen off while riding but I've dropped it a few times...never an issue...

Also recommend poifactory.com Get all the red light and speed cameras around the country...a MUST for Garmin owners...20.00 per year is well worth it!

Haven't dropped mine yet but I'm disappointed with the 660.

I got my 660 a couple of weeks ago and it's just okay to me. There are a lot of things I miss from even my old 7200. I liked when it would display the streets that you were coming up on and then go back to the street you were on.

One thing that really got me when I first used the 660 for a route is I had the "Trip Log" turned on and that color was on top of the route that I was trying to follow so I couldn't see the route in some places because I had been on that road before. They really need to make it so a route will overlay a trip log.

The detail is not that great on this unit either but I guess you all knew that. If it wasn't for it being waterproof I would say any of my other units were better.

Garmin's new sales pitch......Spyder tested tough.
I am still getting used to mine, but I have found it to lose a few POI's that i put in it, like the Spyder dealer list.

I like my Zumo 550, I don't like the mount. Its plastic and it can break :lecturef_smilie: , so be careful. The tab you lock it down with is the problem, it has metal pins in it but the plastic around the pins broke and my Zumo went flying off my bike when I went around a corner. I went back and picked it up and it was a little scratched up but does still work perfectly. :2thumbs: I then I had to order a new holder which costs $50 . I am trying to be more careful with my new one, but I was also careful with the last one.
The other thing is that Garmin is not updating the POI'S for traffic light cameras in my area. Some city's in my area including mine have taken out the traffic light cameras :2thumbs:, but when I am at these lights, I still get an alert that there is a traffic light camera there when its gone.
I still love my Zumo, it helped me out a great deal in Las Vegas during the October Bike fest event weekend:2thumbs:. Just want Garmin to make Zumo a little better.
