Still pretty much the same high heat here in the desert. It's currently 101 and heading for a high of 108(+). Breezy today. We're seeing 10-15 MPH with gusts to 22. Humidity remains low at 9%. There are no clouds anywhere in sight. Our low humidity makes the higher ambient temperature more tolerable than it would be if humidity were a lot higher. Sitting in the shade with a good breeze and 100-105 temperature can feel down-right comfortable...... especially when taking cooling beverages internally. Stay safe..... Jim

It's tuff getting older now days. ....

Tuesday 6/18/24

...Calling for a little drop in the temperatures for today. Yesterday was 95°F and today only 88°F.
Currently 78°F with 79% humidity. Ryding conditions are not very good for me today. Oh well, the wife talked about the 'List'. She is adding some more jobs for me to do some time soon. ...:banghead:

So the high for today only 88°F with sunshine.
Low coming in at 78°F. No rain here for today.

Everybody be extra careful about being outdoors with all this heat. We older people need to be aware of how to handle the conditions. Just saying. ....:shemademe_smilie:

Have a Blessed Day and Stay Healthy. ....

I could write volumes about all the heat related problems people were/are having here in Arizona. Almost ALL the stories are about people being unaware and ill prepared for the heat they encounter. People thinking they can just tough it out and overcome heat issues are often times making deadly decisions. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! If you are not peeing several times a day, you're not drinking enough water. A BIG cup of water is with me all day long. As I sit here, I'm on my 3rd 22oz cup of water for the day..... and it's only 10:30AM.

I know a large part of the country is currently experiencing high heat. Don't underestimate its effects and don't overestimate your ability to cope. It can become deadly very quickly. And that's my weather report for the day! Stay safe..... Jim

While there's no denying that hydration during hot weather is essential, just be a little wary of drinking too much too fast! :lecturef_smilie:

This has become a bit of an issue here in Oz over recent years, especially during heatwaves, and particularly in those not used to handling the heat; those travelling in hotter areas than where they live; retirees; and amongst those on medications.

Too much water too fast can lead to other issues, and it can even be fatal if you overwhelm the capabilities of your kidneys to process it all! nojoke
A maximum of about a litre an hour is pretty much all your kidneys can process, and you also need to watch out for salt/electrolyte depletion if you're drinking a lot of fluids, especially during heatwaves!
But don't just take my word for it, do a bit of research yourself - maybe check this one out for starters:

https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/318619#how-much-is-too-much

There's a link at the end of that article for some more very informative reading. ;)

So do hydrate, but don't over-hydrate! :lecturef_smilie:

Thanks for the additional information, Peter. Just for giggles I measured the amount of water I usually drink during the course of an hour. It comes out to right on 3/4 liter. I sip it continually during the day. It's like a habit. Don't even think about it or wait until I feel thirsty.

Meanwhile, it's 102 here in the desert and not expected to get much hotter today. We have a 7-10 MPH breeze. There are no clouds. By the weekend we will be at 110+ again with overnight lows right at 90! Sure hope the monsoons begin soon. It's a seasonal weather pattern change when our weather comes to us out of the south. That brings moisture and thunderstorms out of the Sea of Cortez in Mexico. No sign of them anywhere yet. Stay safe..... Jim

Here in Vt. we are in the Heat Dome! We have hazy, hot, humid weather! Our first heat wave (3 Consecutive days of 90 degrees or hotter) of the season will be coming at us today (Tuesday). Most of us will talk about actual air temps climbing into the low 90's, combined with high and very sticky dew points in the 60's and 70's, so we'll be talking about 'real feel' temps of between 95-100 degrees for our Tuesday afternoon. That is very dangerously hot.

Stay well hydrated and take it easy if you are outdoors; avoid the midday sun and try to stay in cooler indoor areas. Never leave kids or pets shut in cars for even a second; and check on any neighbors who may have issues with this kind of heat.

Each day through Thursday will feature a good amount of hazy sunshine, with temps in the 90's and real feel temps close to or above that 100-degree mark. Thanks to all that heat and humidity, there is also a chance for a few isolated thunderstorms Tuesday through Thursday.

The temps will come down by the end of the week into the weekend, but it will still be very warm and humid. There will be some showers over the weekend, with temps generally in the upper 70's and lower 80's.

The current temp is 84 degrees - Feels like 90 degrees. Dew point 69 degrees. Humidity is 57 %.

We have a Heat Advisory for All of Vermont and Northern New York until 8 PM Thursday.

What Heat Index values of 95 to 105 expect.

Impacts: Hot temps and high humidity may cause heat illness.

:lecturef_smilie:...Man oh Man, Yesterday's sunshine made it very easy to stay inside with the AC. We had a little cooler temperature 92°F but it felt like 97°F. The humidity is the real problem here. I worked on a inside project and am happy I did.

Currently 73°F feels like 79°F this morning.
High today of 91°F with sunshine.
Low at 73°F. No Rain Today.

Remember your limits and Stay Healthy. ....

I pretty much stayed inside with the RC Heater on all day today, what with actual temps in the low single digits (°C) with 'feels like' temps well into sub-zero territory; plus the fact that we had a lot of intermittent rain that was falling as slushy droplets rather than as real water!! :gaah:

It was bloody cold here, and the almost gale force winds were blowing straight off the ice-pack before gathering monentum & shedding what little warmth they may've ever had blasting straight at us over an almost freezing Southern Ocean too!! :yikes:

Shortest 'daylight' hours for the year starts the day after tomorrow (on Friday 21th), only 34 hours away now! It'll be Christmas soon!! Where's the year gone?! :dontknow:

Thursday 6/20/24

Well here in Indiana, we will get to the first full day of Summer tomorrow [6/21/24]. Most of the Indiana Corn and Beans are looking good for now. Several Farmers have been saying that we need some rain to keep us on track.
Currently clear sky and 73°F.

High today of 93°F with sunshine.
Low of 70°F. Still no rain here.
The humidity is high and miserable.
Remember to be careful about your outdoor activities.

Have a Blessed Day My Friend. ....

For the next 10 days the highs will be 110+ and overnight lows right at 90 here in the desert. :yikes: Looks like we MIGHT have a slight chance of some monsoon action in a few days. Typically, this time of year, the monsoons skirt the valley and stay in the mountains surrounding us. Hoping one or two sneak in. Too hot right now to even walk to the mailbox. It's just a little over 100 yards away. Golf cart is my friend. Stay safe..... Jim

Friday 6/21/24

...Welcome to the Season of Summer. Currently a little cloudy sky and 72°F. The next few days are going to be hot. We have a Heat Advisory till Sunday. So I will not be ryding for a few days.

High today of 93°F with a heat index of 99°F .
Low at 72°F. No rain here for today.

Stay Safe and Healthy. ....

Weekend Weather 6/22 - 6/23

Well the heat is on for the next few days. We have an advisory notice for older people with Health issues. I have been doing some indoor projects and staying in the AC for the last three days. This makes the wife happy and keeps me healthy.
Currently clear sky and 73°F.

Today's numbers are 93°F with sunshine.
The heat index is 98°F Humidity is at 92%.
Low of 73°F. No rain here.

Sunday's high is 92°F with a chance of morning rain showers.
Low at 72°F.

Remember those that may need help with the hot temperatures. Enjoy your Day. ....

Yesterday was the hottest so far this year here in the desert. The official high was 116 and the overnight "low" was 90. Keeps the air conditioners busy! Since I changed my AC filter last time, I've developed a high pitch whistle coming from the utility closet that houses the monster. Tried ignoring it.....worried it might be a bearing going out. It didn't get better (or worse) with time. Finally opened the room up the other day to see if I could see anything! The whistle was coming from around the slot where my filter goes in. I felt around and could alter the sound! Duct tape to the rescue..... Placed a little over the slot opening and whistle completely gone. Bullet dodged. Stay safe..... Jim

Monday 6/24/24

:chat:....Welcome to the Monday morning reply. First off, I am thankful for AC so that I was able to enjoy life. We had a week or better of high heat in my local area of the World. Hopefully everyone has been safe and staying healthy.
Currently clear sky and 63°F.

High today of 86°F with sunshine.
Low at 69°F. Received about two tenths of an inch of rain yesterday evening.
We have been dry for quite some time.

Everything looks good for now. ....

Hot, hot, and hotter.

The air conditioner went out on Saturday. Waiting today for a fix up . Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. :roflblack:
