Last Month, South Australia recorded it's Hottest & driest May since the beginning of Weather Recording in this State; then this past week we've had the wettest and coldest weather the State's had in many years, with winds straight off the Antarctic Continent, 'feels like' average min temps of 0.9°C, low single digit high's, and lotsa rain!! There were areas of flooding yesterday simply because the stormwater system couldn't handle the sheer volume of rain that was dumped in such a short space of time! Some areas that I rode thru scored more than their entire monthly average rainfall in less than 30 minutes - a couple of them during the very 30 minutes that I was passing thru!!
And I gotta say again that I really do love my RT, cos no matter how heavy the rain, I just don't get wet unless I stop or go reeeaalllll slow/crawl along - and ever since I fitted 'real' tires instead of the OEM rubbish waaay back when, it's just been so surefooted in the rain that it takes a
LOT of standing water &/or a toad drowning downfall to make me feel the need to stop & wait it out, like all the 2-wheel riders I passed during the heavy falls yesterday as they huddled, shivering, under whatever meagre cover they could find, dripping wet & freezing their butts off!!

I just tootled on past, grateful for the heated grips and feeling the cold a bit, sure

but still moving, and still moving fast enough to avoid getting wet plus being able to ride on comfortably thru the heaviest downpour we've seen in years at that!! The 'Whale Tail' rack on the top of the trunk totally eliminated the 'skunk stripe' of water/mud spray from the rooster tail kicked up behind, and when I got home I didn't even hafta thaw my gloves or hands to get my gloves off, they were barely even wet! :2thumbs:
Apart from those & the exposed lower sections of my boots plus my helmet, the rest of my gear showed no sign at all that I'd just ridden for a couple of hours thru the heaviest downpours the State's had in years!! The Spyder didn't miss a beat, just cruised along, never slid or lost traction at all, no Nanny interventions &/or the slightest indication that the traction control kicked in for even just a second - just steady as she goes, sure-footed, controlled,
DRY, riding

hyea: albeit not as fast as usual!
And in the tradition of our Sunburnt Country's '
Droughts and Flooding Rains', tomorrow is expected to see morning fog and clearing showers followed by a sunny afternoon reaching highs in the mid/high 20's (°C), then a few sunny, dry, & warm days before the next cold front brings the temps back down into round or low single digits & dumps some more heavy rain on us - with similar on again/off again freezingly fierce winds, spates of solid rain, and then a couple of warm, clear days just so we can't get properly acclimated to the cold'n wet for the rest of the Month!! Anyone'd think it was Winter here in Oz! Oh, hang on - it
IS! :banghead:
