• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Your First One

Since many of us have made the transition from two wheels to three it may be interesting to know your first motorcycle. Year, make and model would be great, a picture would be even better. I googled the year and make and found this one;

1967 Bridgestone 90

My first cycle around 1970. Actually, two years before I had a drivers license. You guessed it, I got caught, Dad paid the fine, and I was grounded.:gaah:

I've included two "first motorcycle" photos. My first semi-real motorcycle was a 1957 H-D 750 Sportster I bought in college. It wasn't very reliable and eventually tossed me off one day when it seized without provocation and broke my left arm in five places just before it caught fire.

My first non-suicidal "real" motorcycle was a 1972 Suzuki T500J Titan two stroke twin a bought while living in England. I rode it in England for about half a year and then air-freighted it back to the U.S. and rode it from San Antonio, Texas, to Grand Forks, North Dakota, among other places and it never once failed me. Cycle World called it the "blue denim motorcycle" - like a pair of Levi's, it never wore out. I wish I still had it.

For me it was a Yamaha XS400 Twin. Great running bike that got 62 mpg.. Tom :spyder:

My first was in 1959....it was a 1949, 500cc, one lung, Royal Enfield thumper. I was 16 years old. Sorry, I don’t have a photo.

Hodaka.jpg

Not my picture. Anybody remember Hodaka's? My first. Don't know how many times I almost killed myself on that thing.

1964 Honda 90 Street. owned from 1968 to 1970. logged about 10K miles driving to school every day the weather allowed. During summers drove to and from work on local farms.

no mine but a pretty close match.

Used 1964 Honda Super 90. This is not the picture of it, but it looked just like this.
Only pictures I have of it are faded B+W pictures in an old photo album.

Only had the S-90 for about a year. Sold it and bought a 305 Superhawk Honda. This is a real picture of it.

I bought a used Yamaha 250 Enduro in 1970. I rode it to and from various dirt and gravel pits for fun and sport. The nastier the weather, the better. I don't have a picture but if I did, it would just show a big lump of mud and dirt with parts of a motorcycle sticking out here and there. Back then I had way more guts than skill. Lucky to have survived..... Jim

Got it from my C.O. who was a major during my stint in Ft. Campbell, KY.

My army buddies convinced me to buy it, because we did A LOT of riding in the Land Between The Lakes Recreational Area between KY and TN.

Man, there were some good times....

My 1st "motorcycle" was a Puch moped. My 1st real-ish motorcycle was a 1972 Yamaha 125cc Enduro. 1st real motorcycle was a mid '70s Honda CB550/4 (in metallic orange, of course).

1973 Suzuki TC125. first street legal bike. had high / low range, knobby tires, turn signals, headlight / taillight. Rode that bike a bunch, it was the first "big" bike to keep up with those with 125cc or more after riding 60cc mini bikes first

My first was a 1975 Honda, XL 250. Sill have the bike. My nephew rebuilt it. It has approximately 80,000 miles on it. My thumbnail is a picture of it.

My first was a 1948 Cushman Pacemaker scooter, bought it in 1954, about a year later, a Whizzer Sportsman. Wouldn't mind having either one of them again.
