• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Y gaskets

Question ? are the Y gaskets the same for the RTS as the RS? Replacing with the Honda gaskets, will the Honda part number fit the RTS? If not does Honda have the correct exhaust gaskets? :chat:
Rode about 100 miles yesterday and eyes were burning when I got back! Have nearly 3000 miles on bike
Have seen on the forum where the gaskets give up fairly quick!

I don't know if they are the same IMO they are different. Here is what I found at BRP Parts on line
2008 spyder takes 707600337
2009 spyder takes 707600546 this may supersede 2008 #
2010 RS takes 707600546
2010 RT takes 707600650

What the difference is I don't know. I'm sure someone with more info will chime in. Good luck with figuring this one out.:gaah:

Check your pipe first.

HOLY COW!!!!:yikes:

But if that were the case, wouldn't you be able to tell by the crazy loud exaust?

I don't know how many miles you have on your RT, but I would doubt Y-gasket failure is the cause. This problem has not been reported for the RTs, like it was for the RS. I'm sure somebody would have noticed by now. As was said, check your exhaust pipe for sign of cracking or breaking.

Most of the time, on a machine with as much backdraft as the RT has, this problem is from fumes being sucked back toward the rider. These can come from your own exhaust, or from surrounding traffic. The severity can be compounded by a poor running machine, say with a fouled spark plug or bad plug wire.

Tell me about it. That's my RT exhaust. Happen on a trip to Colorado. Rode nearly 100 miles with it like this and in rain. Yes, gas tank was hot but if you'll pull either side pannel right after a long ride, it's just as hot. Location of exhaust pipe directly under left side of gas tank is not what I consider the best of designs.

Scotty My RT has about 3000 miles on it, My Rt has always had a hint of gas smell, just seemed like this was more exhaust fumes to me. Will be this weekend before I can check the pipes, Just about ready to let someone else own this fine machine!!:dontknow:

There's a heat shield on the gas tank right where the exhaust bends under it. :dontknow:
