• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wooo Whoooo!!! Picked up our RS-S Copper/Black SE5

Congratulations !
excellent choice of colour....enjoyed a moment of nostalgia looking at your pictures, ...missing my little Pumpkin!

Thanks everyone! More parts showed up today :ohyea::ohyea::ohyea:... Looks like I will be knee deep in it this weekend!:2thumbs:

Man I hope the folks @ KewlMetals are OK.. I made an order a week ago and it is processing.. and one yesterday that still says pending. I think they must be snowed in still :(

I ordered some stuff from KewlMetal last Monday. I was expecting it to come in on Thursday because I went with 3 day delivery but come Friday I still had no parts. :( I was unable to get ahold of them by phone so I fired off an email and got a reply later that day. It seem the "normal" processing time is from 3 to 7 days (:hun:) so my stuff is scheduled to be shipped tomorrow. They upgraded my shipping to 2 day so I should have the parts by Wednesday. :) I suggested that they need to list their processing time someplace. I've got so used to dealing with places like Aerostitch, Murph's or Cycle Gadget that always ship the day of or next at the latest that I just assumed KewlMetal was the same way. Hope you get your parts soon too. :D

Good to know.. Seems mine will take the 7 days to ship approach. Mine just changed to processing and I ordered three days as well hoping to install this weekend. Originally ordered on 01/11/11... :cus:

From now on I will hold back from ordering stuff from them. And know if they are the only place to get items from I need to not need or want them for two weeks, and I should be ok... Assuming they have them in stock.

As I ordered an item over two weeks ago and still do not have it even shipped because they need to make a part.

So in my mind they need to update their process two ways...

  1. post the processing time ***CORRECTION*** It is posted... (Link):firstplace::yes:
  2. have an in-stock or out of stock notice. Could even be that we can only add the item to our wish-list if it is out of stock instead of our shopping cart...
Good thing they make quality items and have treated me well in the past or I would be canceling my orders (Yes I have multiple orders to them, sitting here waiting for them to ship) and buying from other Spyderlover vendors...

Took a short 60 ish mile ryde today... brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :chill: :coffee:

34f before the wind... Next time I will wear a sweatshirt under my jacket... lol...

I am amazed at the power difference between the RT and RS. More than a few times I gassed her from a stop and started walking the rear end to the side... :roflblack: Few more rydes and I am sure that little learning curve will go away as I will find the sweet-spot for first gear...

The exhaust sound is awesome. Cannot wait to hear it when the RPMs can be cranked up after the break-in period. :ohyea:

Spoke with KewlMetal today. Great service and should have many of the ordered items this Friday to install over the weekend :yes:

I am still looking for a windshield. Seems many of the top choices have decided to no longer make or support the Spyders...

Definitely miss the RT... :opps:

Put another 40 miles on her today... "Ice" Pellets hurt! hahahahaha :roflblack: Rain turned to falling ice... Had to pull over and pull up my neck sock so it did not feel like little tacks trying to make me bleed nojoke:D

This RSS is more fun than I expected it to be. It is a lot of fun drifting the bike in the rain :ohyea:. Now THIS is more like it for those feeling frisky moments...:2excited:

Wife loves the exhaust sound and tells me the dogs let her know when I am almost home... As they seem to hear me before she does... lol... Oh and she also now tells me it is time for me to search for my own ryde as she is not interested in ryding shotgun on this one nor having me be the ryder :chill::shemademe_smilie::roflblack::cus: I think she will settle down if we buy this home we are looking at... Otherwise... Oh boy!

Glad to hear you are getting in tune with the sporty performance side of the Spyder now. :D Definitely a different animal than your RT was.

Thanks folks :2thumbs:...

Well today was a loooooooooong day with Copper and my tools... Installed...

  • KewlMetals Center console and 7" handle bars... Worked nicely.
  • KewlMetals Foot pegs. This is where my being pleased with KewlMetal stopped. May not be their fault at all (Just wanted to be clear on that)
    • The instructions say to not worry about the left rear bolt because there is some kind of catch mechanism... HA! It is now just like the RT on our 2011 RS-S's (Or all of them :dontknow:) They put a nylon lock nut on the other side where you cannot get a socket on it so save your life! I ended up "Pinning" a screwdriver up and between the mounts to hit the edge of the nut, then used my impact wrench on high speed reverse to get it off the nut. Then the nut falls into this lovely pocket and limited likelihood I will ever get it out.
    • Then (Phew) I get to the HWY mounting brackets started. The right side was either EXTREMELY poorly welded together or once again BRP has changed the angles and or designs of how they are routing the exhaust manifold on the right side... I had to place four washers to the rear bolt hole, and pound the living crap out of the bracket (Not while on the bike of course) so that it would not be hitting the exhaust manifold from the front piston. This was my second set of HWY sets.. Never expected this. I plan to email them on Tuesday as my Monday is beyond full at this point.
  • Installed the ISCI Hand Brake... Looooooooooooooooooove it. Top quality. Did I mention I love it? I think I may need a little fine tuning because it does NOT brake as well as the foot brake does. I thought I had it pretty dialed in :lecturef_smilie:. Any more adjustment at the time and the rear brake lights would not turn off after they turned on from braking.
  • Installed the Two Brother Top Tuner kit today. Beyond easy!! Top quality and pleased I gave it a try. Originally I was just going to have my dealer do it. But I figured all my Tupperware had been removed so why not do it while the hard part was done! Took me an hour start to finish without having to remove and reinstall all the Tupperware.
    • A few notes on this. The video they have online for the Pro Tuner needs to be watched first for a good visual and understanding. But follow the instructions included with the kit as they are newer and they made the wiring longer and seems like they thought it through better.
    • The air-filter in my kit was a K&N version (Even in the K&N box) and was a major PITA to get the old one out.:chill:
    • The instructions for the tuner made me think they shipped the tuner without the software installed. So I tried to. Ended up finding out that they did in fact ship it with 0 & 1 & 2 & 3 installed. No big deal, got to kiss the wife as I went back to the garage :ohyea:

Sounds like you're having fun...I have had major issues with the KM highway mounts and pegs...could never get them to stay put. Need two bolts, not one...I've had to do almost everything short of welding them to get them to stay put...plus, when you ride, the pegs are going to get loose and fall off...go ahead and tighten them...won't matter...check them a lot...this design is flawed. I'm sure KM makes great stuff...I just had no success with the highway brackets/pegs...

Yeah, you can stand on the peg...go ahead...it'll flip all over the place unless you peg it down against the bracket, which is not what I want to do because the angle is bad...they need a reboot on this product, IMHO. How about 2 bolts to reduce rotation...one obviously doesn't cut it...

Glad to hear you are making progress on your mods list, but sorry to hear about the troubles you are running into. I wish you continued luck with everything you want to do.

The front suspension is week and will be replaced sooner than later.

I haven't seen that color combo in person but it looks awesome in the pics. Congrats. As far as the suspension goes an easy and relatively inexpensive addition is the RT shocks. I am very impressed with them and they flatten the ride substantially.

Thanks for that info! A fellow member here that we met in person plans on selling me his when the 2011's finally get shipped to the dealers.. Either that or I will snag a pair if the right set comes along...

Thanks ... Stuff happens. KewlMetals was right on top of it and my experience was exceptional with Matt today. I cannot say enough about how friendly the conversation was. :ohyea:

Noice!!!

I ran mine into Bellevue today (local city) to pay our taxes :gaah: and discovered how welcomed the windshield is going to be...lol...:helpsmilie::roflblack:

This color combination is a Home run. A lot of folks make a point to mention that. Even had the Security guard @ the IRS building come down from the third floor to get a closer look (He rides a beautiful touring bike):2thumbs:

Can't wait to get everything installed. I hate this part (Waiting) :lecturef_smilie:.

I will say that I cannot notice any difference wiith the K&N filter and TB Pro making any difference at this time. I did how ever in all fairness select position # 3 and it is for 5000 rpms and up. I refuse to open the throttle till the 600 miles are up per the owners manual break-in period requirements... :D

Just tossing in a few pics... Still need to take more of the Mods I installed this past weekend...
