There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Wireless Controller for heated gear

I am investigating which type of heated gear controller to purchase, wireless or permanent. The most appealing is the wireless system, however I am hesitant to purchase it after reading about the DESS problem which may be related to interference from other wireless devices. To date, my 2014 Spyder RT has not suffered from this problem. I am looking forward to reading all comments so I can make a more informed decision.
Thanks.

I installed a permanent dual controller on my 2014 RTL
I figured I would have to wires going from the bike to my jacket anyway so why have wireless

Agree...

:agree: considering the function of the heated gear I would rather not depens on wireless. Ours is hard wired and we have no problem with it. Even when I forget walking off just unplugs it and you just hook it back up when you take off. Guess it's all in where you put the controller...I have a dual, gloves and liner and the wife has a single. RS has no hand protection and heated grips do nothing for you.....

I use the wireless controller and have since I bought my 2011 and now my 2014 RT. No Problems related the DESS but, I made sure the powder that goes to the clothing is isolated via a relay and a diode.

I have the wireless controls. I like them they work very well and I will never buy another set. It adds useless expense to the purchase and needless complication. You are still wired in, they can't send the power wireless so for me there is no point.

Don't be very concerned about wireless devices interfering with the DESS. The DESS only operates for a couple seconds after the key is turned on. After that it does nothing until the next time you turn the key on. So unless you plan on putting the wireless controller beside the ignition switch and press the button on it at the same time you turn on the ignition switch. Nothing bad will happen.
