• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

winter storage

Does anyone have any suggestions how to store my RSS Spyder for the winter? I do not want to leave it on the ground and get flat spots on the tires. I lift my cars and sport bike on car dollies with jacks welded onto the dollies. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Do you know something about what's coming that you might need to tell us?
It's only the end of July.... ;)
Will your bike be stored outside, or will it be garaged?

Mine is kept in a heated garage...
The tires are on either carpeting or cardboard, and I roll it around in there about one a month just so's the tires remember why they're on the bike!

Well..!!

It's a trike..get three jack stands and set it up off the ground. The rest is mentioned in several threads..you know gas, battery, covers, rodents etc. If you still need it to be mobile build a "Y" on casters with stands..

Chu...
You're in San Diego ; Have you ever had to store anything for the Winter Months??? :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
You lucky guy!

Wow, it's almost August & winter in Michigan!! I have a friend with a K12 trike. He had stands fabricated to bolt on to the hubs - removes the tires, and bolts the stands on. They are strong/stable enough to allow him to start/run the bike once a week….

Tires

Unless you are using NYLON tires on your trike they should not flat spot.
modern radial tires today almost never have that trouble. I would avoid
installing any of the liquid flat tire repair goop or liquid balancing goop
inside the tires because in time that stuff will harden and lay on the bottom
and then it will be fun watching you bounce down the road on them.
I would not worry at all about the tires.
If you must have them unsprung then block up your trike on wheel stands
placed under the A arms and rear suspension to lift the wheels off the ground 2 or 3 inches
Or you could go to some place warm in the winter and just ride it.

Is it winter in Michigan already or are you just planning ahead?

You are worrying about something that is a non issue. I don't raise the tires off the ground on anything I own and I never have any flat spotting.

Back in the day it may have been a problem but not with todays radial tires.

Think of new tires like old minds. What little bit of memory the tires might have, a couple of miles down the road and it's gone.

If you have concerns (old ideas die hard) I would run the tire pressure up to the max and you'll be good. Raising vehicles off the ground to prevent flat spotting just seems to me like a lot of work for no reason.

Sorry about repeating info in my post above. Someone came into my office with a question and when I finally posted my response a 1/2 hour had gone by.

Man I hate work. It is always getting in the way of Spyder time, as in riding or spending time on Spyderlovers.

:agree:...forgot to mention that one... :opps:

I bumped the pressures up to 25 psi in the fronts, and 35 psi out back!
MXZ... I know JUST how you feel... :gaah:

Pretty much what all of the above have said. Seems a little early to some, but I am thinking it will not be to long until mid October gets here. That is usually when we have snow and I have to park the :spyder2:'s for a long sleep.

I will say, we are currently having the best summer since I have been in AK. I moved here in 2001. July has been in the 70 + range except for about 4 days. It has been exceptionally dry--and that has created fire danger issues. We have even had five or more days in the 80's--which is abnormal for my area. I am loving every bit of it.

Skidoo Dollie

Thanks--I knew someone would know of something to raise my Spyder and keep her mobile
And to those who joke about Michigan weather...we have an hourly forcast:roflblack:...it could very well snow in 10 minutes...I have been caught in torrential down pours when the weather was forcasted clear and sunny...but was having a blast even though it took 2 days to dry out my gloves

Loving every minute on YRYDER (vanity plate)

When I lived in Michigan I did not do anything special to my Spyder. No battery tender no carpet just parked it in the unheated garage. It never gave me any problems.
