• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Are Tire 'Flat Stoppers' necessary for winter storage??

Do any of you fog the engine for winter storage? My plan is to switch my last two tanks to non-ethanol gas and add stabilizer.

I was looking at HF for dollies; those I was looking at were $79 a pair; I like those you have much better, Bensonoid!

They're all good things to do!! Battery tender would be another one; or take the battery out, bring it inside, and tend it if you have nowhere to get power to your bike.

The only vehicle I have to worry about is my Can Am S x S and trip around the block usually rounds them out. Spyder I never thought about it. I don't even inflate them any extra. Stabil and battery tender. Besides I don't think radials have that problem.

Wow! A subject that everyone agrees on! This is AMAZING!

What's this horse hockey about storing over winter, you need to get out and ride that thang!

My spyder only gets a break for snow and salt and that lasts only a couple of weeks at a time here.

I'm rooting for global warming and more riding weather and I have heard OK Boomer enough not to give a crap about any future generations.

I put my plastic in the trash with everything else and spray a can of hair spray in the air every time I leave the garage hoping for a warmer winter next season!

No problem with flat spots on spyder, defender cab, outlander X, fuel stabilizer in the late fall and no battery maintainer on any of them. The Outlander is a 2013 (not used much) still on the original battery.

I've got a 2012 RT that's "new" to me so I'm clueless on most things Spyder. With so many opinions on the internet/YT, I thought I'd check the forum here. Didn't catch anything on my 1st search of the topic so I hope I'm not annoying you all with a "same old question" asked and answered a million times.

If storing in my garage (now on a battery tender) for winter months - I'm guessing 3 more months at this point, should the wheels be on flat stoppers? I've got a local friend who owns a Spyder who swears by them and said she never stores w/o them. Haven't seen much written on it, so I'm curious what you all find. I Certainly don't want to cause flat spots in the tires from 4mo of winter storage.

Thanks!!
Mike

HI Mike2012RT,

I have owned 3 Spyders (a 2012 RTS-SE5; a 2014 RTS-SE6; and my current Spyder, a 2023 F3 LTD Special Series) I have not used flat stoppers on any of them, and I have not had flat spots on the tires. I will be putting my current Spyder up for hibernation soon for the winter months.

Don't forget to change the oil; fill gas tank with gas; and put fuel stabilizer in the tank, then take a ride to let the fuel stabilizer get into the gas lines before putting the Spyder into hibernation.

Deanna

I'll add one item to the winterizing regimens mentioned here. In addition to the Battery Tender, Stabil in a full fuel tank, and NOTHING under the tires, I stuff rags into the exhaust pipes to discourage critters from thinking that they can next there over the winter months, and just to help in this effort, put bags of moth balls under each of my bikes.

If you are concerned about the tyres developing flat spots, why not leave it up on a lift. I leave my S2S up on my Big Blue during the winter, but for other reasons.
