I have plenty of experience with ugly windshields.. I put over 350,000 mi on BMW GS's / Five of them... I know something about function over form.. I completely GET that the guys that have the Madstad like them and I'm happy for each and every one of you.. My opinion just happens to be in this instance that there are better choices on the way and I'm gonna wait n see![]()
I just had the larger of the three windscreens put on my new F3S and while it keeps all the wind off my chest, it now directs it all into my face. At highways speeds my eyes rattle. Any after-market ideas?
XxxMine is being delivered tomorrow. I'll have it on Friday. Will post pics this weekend.

I agree 100% - while the Blue Ridge is prettier, and blends with the lines of the F3, it also "blends with the wind" and blocks very little of it! I just rode 80 miles to Pearcy,Ark, the home of Spyderpops. Riding over, I had the Blue Ridge shield with clamp-on X-Creen. The clamp-on was a big improvement, but I was still getting a wind-blast directly to the head face and eyes. If I leaned forward with chest on tank, I found a small zone of quiet and no turbulence! Since I could hold this position for only about 10 seconds, I was very uncomfortable on the freeway all the way over.
I asked Harvey to install the Madstad windshield, since my mechanical abilities are abysmal. The optical quality and appearance of the Madstad winshield are excellent, I could not see any blemishes, and there are zero distortions.
i am 5'10". Adjusted to its very bottom position, The shield is about level with my chin and I can easily see over it; from that position, it can be adjusted till I was looking through it about an inch below the top ride back home was strikingly different. it was much more comfortable and I could leave my face shield in the up position, at 75 mph there was no blast of wind, although the shield allows plenty of air to keep you cool. The appearance is quite acceptable. You can judge for yourself by looking at their web-site. I am very pleased and excited about my purchase. I'll post more later...
Ron..
"Fugly" (see above) is in the eye of the beholder (the Blue Ridge brackets are not exactly works of art) and Madstad would not have the large following they have if their product didn't work, and work well, addressing the exact issue that started this thread.
Also, even though the brackets are centered on the shield, with the Madstad you are looking OVER the screen anyway.
Won't say anymore now (because I want to post from experience) but I'll post a review after I have actually put some miles on with it.
BTW, they have a 60-day, no-questions-asked return policy. Sounds like Mark (at Madstad) is pretty confident about his product.
I totally agree!!! The Madstad only looks proper on an Adventure Touring bike and every one I've seen on any Spyder looks like an afterthought at best.. I don't care how they work.. I'll ride with a full face helmet until someone comes out with a nice windshield.. We shouldn't have too much longer of a wait from what I've been hearing...
I am interested in the height above the speedo cluster. And the overall width.

I purchased the xcreen extension for my blueridge windscreen and it does a good job of keeping the wind off my face. I am 6'4". I also used the slip on brackets provided by xcreen to avoid drilling holes in the oem w/s.
