There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Windscreen issues

Mike, my post had nothing to do with you . . . .

I have plenty of experience with ugly windshields.. I put over 350,000 mi on BMW GS's / Five of them... I know something about function over form.. I completely GET that the guys that have the Madstad like them and I'm happy for each and every one of you.. My opinion just happens to be in this instance that there are better choices on the way and I'm gonna wait n see :)

. . . . . or your opinions or extensive experience or plans. I sure that will seem to be incredible to you, but if you look at the time-stamp on my post it is a minute after yours - and I can assure you I had not seen your post. Nothing to do with you. Really.

Windshield

I just had the larger of the three windscreens put on my new F3S and while it keeps all the wind off my chest, it now directs it all into my face. At highways speeds my eyes rattle. Any after-market ideas?

Spyderpops Harvey is installing my madstad windshield on my F3 as I'm typing, I'm believing
that its gonna work great and look ok. I got the"quick removal model,, I'll post a report after my seventy mile ride home today.

MADSTAD WINDSHIELD - ROAD REPORTe till was looking through

Mine is being delivered tomorrow. I'll have it on Friday. Will post pics this weekend.

I agree 100% - while the Blue Ridge is prettier, and blends with the lines of the F3, it also "blends with the wind" and blocks very little of it! I just rode 80 miles to Pearcy,Ark, the home of Spyderpops. Riding over, I had the Blue Ridge shield with clamp-on X-Creen. The clamp-on was a big improvement, but I was still getting a wind-blast directly to the head face and eyes. If I leaned forward with chest on tank, I found a small zone of quiet and no turbulence! Since I could hold this position for only about 10 seconds, I was very uncomfortable on the freeway all the way over.

I asked Harvey to install the Madstad windshield, since my mechanical abilities are abysmal. The optical quality and appearance of the Madstad winshield are excellent, I could not see any blemishes, and there are zero distortions.

i am 5'10". Adjusted to its very bottom position, The shield is about level with my chin and I can easily see over it; from that position, it can be adjusted till I was looking through it about an inch below the top ride back home was strikingly different. it was much more comfortable and I could leave my face shield in the up position, at 75 mph there was no blast of wind, although the shield allows plenty of air to keep you cool. The appearance is quite acceptable. You can judge for yourself by looking at their web-site. I am very pleased and excited about my purchase. I'll post more later...

Ron..

"Fugly" (see above) is in the eye of the beholder (the Blue Ridge brackets are not exactly works of art) and Madstad would not have the large following they have if their product didn't work, and work well, addressing the exact issue that started this thread.

Also, even though the brackets are centered on the shield, with the Madstad you are looking OVER the screen anyway.

Won't say anymore now (because I want to post from experience) but I'll post a review after I have actually put some miles on with it.

BTW, they have a 60-day, no-questions-asked return policy. Sounds like Mark (at Madstad) is pretty confident about his product.

Disagree

I totally agree!!! The Madstad only looks proper on an Adventure Touring bike and every one I've seen on any Spyder looks like an afterthought at best.. I don't care how they work.. I'll ride with a full face helmet until someone comes out with a nice windshield.. We shouldn't have too much longer of a wait from what I've been hearing...

Disagree, just had Madstad installed, and I like it fine. I'll settle for the great comfort it provides. Excellent engineering, far from being an afterthought. Just my opinion after my first 80 mile ride with one.

My apologies...

For the stupid, botched attempt at the above post. It was the result of zero multi-tasking skills and poor co-ordination of opposable thumbs. I will try to slow down and pay attention.

Madstad measurements

I am interested in the height above the speedo cluster. And the overall width.

On the 20" shield:

At full-down, the shield top edge is 15" up from the bottom of the BRP logo on the instrument cluster. There is an angle - the edge is about half way between the cluster and the top bolts that hold the handle bars.

At full-up, the shield top edge is almost directly above the two top handlebar bolts and measures 18".

At full-up and full forward, the shield top edge is just under 20" to the bottom of the BRP logo on the instrument cluster.

With a tape measure, the curved widest part of the shield is just under 21", across the back, in a straight line, it is 19". A straight line across the top is 14".

I have the Blue Ridge. With my AGV Skyline helmet, which is a touring helmet, the buffeting is horrible. But with my Bell Vortex, which is a high speed race helmet, I barely notice any wind. I suggest getting a helmet that is aerodynamic in nature.

we are getting close. First test run today we really like what we saw and didn't feel. More as soon as we can.

Madstad solves it. See the two recent texts

Quit teasing and let us see a pic of how it looks! I'm hoping it will look as good as it works, as the Blue Ridge may not be the best option, it does look like it belongs on the bike just falls short on function.

Bobble Head

Just done a trip to Texas AND back from SC, only thang that passed me were the Porsches but the truckers enjoyed watching my bobble head, neck still sore with stock windshield. It's rediculous that a company like BRP can't do any better. Still waiting on CROSS COUNTRY SADDLEBAGS ordered January 26th, first time with BRP, WILL NOT GO BACK..

I purchased the xcreen extension for my blueridge windscreen and it does a good job of keeping the wind off my face. I am 6'4". I also used the slip on brackets provided by xcreen to avoid drilling holes in the oem w/s.

Me too!!
Can't get anything other than Madstadt here and I really don't think it complements the F3 'look'.....but that's just my opinion....other opinions are freely available elsewhere!
I've used the shorter X-Creen and it deflects the wind over my head quite nicely. That being said I'm used to riding naked motorcycles thus wind is not normally a problem
for me under 90mph!!
I'll get some pics up when I can.
I'm hoping that MRA in Germany soon realise how 'big' the F3 is going to be and get a dedicated screen and spoiler onto the market like they did for the RS.

I have installed the xscreen extension on the blueridge windshield of my f3 and it does a good job of keeping the wind from my face. I am 6' 3" tall. I bought the xcreen from twisted throttle.
