There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Will the outlet in the trunk support a tire pump?

I have one of the small Slime air pumps with a cig plug in device. Can I use the outlet in the trunk if I need to?

Slime Pump using 12V trunk outlet.

NO!
Trunk outlet is rated for 3 amps. The Slime pump(and other pumps) are MORE than 3 Amps.Pigtail the battery with a 15 Amp. fuse, ie. Deltran, Electric clothing hookup, etc and plug in there.

The RS trunk outlet is only fused for 3 amps, but the RT trunk outlet has a 10 amp fuse. That should handle your Slime compressor, but check the rating beforehand...or have a spare fuse handy. BTW, the Slime compressors (at least mine) come with alligator clips, so you can just attach those to the jumper terminals under the seat, if need be.

The Slime pump is rated at ; 15 Amp. Minimum.

My Slime pump doesn't have the aligator clips so I'll have to make, or buy if I can find one, a pigtail with clips. Don't want to take a chance plugging it in without knowing for sure the outlet will handle the compressor. I looked at it again and it said it was rated 15 amps.

Took a trip just after buying my RT. I found that the rear shock was leaking so I bought a 12 v pump at walmart. Traveled 12 days & filled the shock every morning. No problems then and no promlems after the leak was fixed. It will push the pump no problem.---Budro

I guess the ole say'n "Ignorance is Bliss" applied to me in this case last year

Tested out my Slime mini pump on the trunk outlet and had no issues.
Teddy has one of those lil Slime Pumps & we plugged it into the trunk outlet last year & it worked fine & didn't blow anything  Guess we got lucky :dontknow:

Thanks folks for the feedback. Question: what is the amount of pressure that you put in the rear shock? A buddy of mine with an RT has one thats leaked down completely and he hasn't had time to get it in the shop.

For a manual system the recommended pressures vary from 30 to 85 pounds, depending on load and rider preferences. The system limits are 10 to 100 pounds. I'd try about 40-50 psi.

I love my Baker built ( site sponsor ) set up. If you are coming to Spyderfest ask him. I believe he is coming. A button in the "glove compartment w/gauge operates the system.

If I dare say this, mine was used to put air in a flat Harley tire after plugging it.

So, here's my dumb question: what's the *point* of the RS frunk outlet if you can't plug anything into the dang thing?

I'm guessing all it's good for is a phone charger, that's it, right?

Not so hot for a phone charger, either, since it is not live when the Spyder isn't running. That's why lots of folks add auxiliary outlets elsewhere.

3 amp RT trunk outlet

The RS trunk outlet is only fused for 3 amps, but the RT trunk outlet has a 10 amp fuse.

I haven't had a chance to check the wiring diagram yet for fuse size but here's a direct quote from the 2011 RT owner's manual:

"The 12-volt power outlet is not designed to supply current of more than 3 amperes." I'd follow their recommendation or you'll likely be searching for blown fuses as well as where else to attach your pump.

I bought the Slime pump a few years ago for my 'Wing and had a few e-mails with Slime before purchasing it. As I remember, they told me the amps can be fairly low some of the time but as the pump is working harder and harder to get higher pressures, the amps increase. On occasion they do reach the limit that Slime quotes in their info. So you could plug it in and "test" it but under sustained real-world pumping, it may well blow the fuse, assuming it's a 3-amp fuse. I'll have to search my ancient emails to see if I can find their info. Not likely.

just f.y.i. my wife bought me a tire pump from harley-davidson and it plugs into the battery tender coming out of the battery she said it was like 30-35 dollars.
