• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is it possible to Remove the tail trunk & passenger back rest from 2023 RTL?

I have difficulty getting on the 2023 RTL because of the passenger back rest and tail trunk. Since I'll never have a passenger, I wonder if it's possible to remove the tail trunk and passenger back rest, so I can ride without it? The manual says not to ride without it, and I wonder why.

If somebody put them on it, then somebody else can take them off.

What the manual says is likely because if you take them off, there is nothing to prevent slipping off the back end. If you are worried about that, you could always build a low sissy bar to bolt on there. A sissy bar that sticks maybe 4 or 5 inches above the seat height should not be in the way of getting on, but it would be an obstruction to slipping off the back. You might even consider replacing the tall trunk with a low luggage rack if you can find one that fits. Can Am may not agree, but they don't own it anymore... you do.

If you don't carry a passenger, there is really nothing to worry about.

When my 2024 Spyder RT Sea2Sky was delivered, I received a flat box that had the driver's backrest and mounting hardware, AND a replacement cover for the top storage compartment area.
When you take the top storage compartment off, it's going to leave some of the mounting hardware exposed.

In my 2024 Spyder RT Operator's Guide, there is a section on page 38 titled: Removing the Top Storage Compartment

In the 2023 Spyder RT Operator's Guide, the section titled: Removing the Top Storage Compartment is on page 39.

Let me see if I can find the cover online.

So I grabbed the cover from the top shelf in my closet where I have been storing it.
On the inside of the cover I found this part number: 708304721
Searching for that number came up with this description: FAIRING REAR B-364 ASSY

General Google searches found it for sale on various websites, including several on eBay. But they're all Vegas White Satin color, which is what my 2024 Spyder is, so that part number is specific to a 2024 Spyder RT Sea2Sky, which only came in Vegas White Satin.

I also found a more human description of it: Top Rear Panel Can-Am Spyder RT

I'm in the US, and if I go to the CAN-AM website for accessories for on road vehicles:

And search for Top Rear Panel Can-Am Spyder RT it comes up with 92 results. Most of the results are not the actual panel, of course, but on the first page it shows 7 different colors available for the panel. I told the website that I had a 2023 Spyder RT Limited and it said they fit.

If you select a specific color it takes you to a page where you can order it, and about the middle of the page is a link to the installation instructions.

I have difficulty getting on the 2023 RTL because of the passenger back rest and tail trunk.
On my 2024 Spyder RT Sea2Sky I have a similar problem, which I have found a solution that might work for you.

My Spyder has Passenger footrests that fold up against the body when you're not using them.
I have them folded down, and step up onto one to get me high enough that I can throw my leg over the top case when mounting my Spyder.

Thanks to all who replied. That's very good information. I suspected there might be something that would have to be put on the bike to cover up whatever is under the top box. I'm not sure that I'm agile enough to climb up on the rear passenger floorboard get on. I haven't bought the bike yet. I've only sat on it.

When I bought my 2021 RTL it did not come with the cover for the rear area once the trunk was removed. I did a search on Ebay and was able to find one. Not sure what I paid (memory isn't as good as it used to be), but it was about 1/2 the price BRP wanted for the same thing. Since it is over 3 years since I made that purchase, there should be a lot more of them on Ebay.

I'm not sure that I'm agile enough to climb up on the rear passenger floorboard get on.
I'm over 65, so not very agile at all.
I start with standing by the left side of the Spyder and then:

1) left foot on the driver's floorboard
2) right foot on the rear half of the passenger floorboard
3) left foot on the front half of the passenger floorboard
4) swing right leg over

I measured the passenger footrest and it's 8" long front to back, and 6" deep. My riding boots are 5" wide so there's some overhang when both feet are on the footrest.
