• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why does'nt BRP fix the RT turn signal return ?

We've got a site sponsor here with an indicator light that should help...
http://www.bores1.com/

That is exactly what I have considered doing. I just have not researched it to get parts as of yet. Thanks for the link.

I have also wondered if the standard bulbs for the factory indicators could be replaced with high intensity LEDs to make them more noticeable.

Had the same problem with our 2011 RT when first got it, but soon learned that if I push the button firmly and hold for just a second it works every time. Trying to just tap it like i did on my V-Star didnt work.

I agree. This is what I've learned on my 2012 RT Limited.

I have had the same problem on my 2012.
I found out that if you hold the button in for a few seconds they shut off.
I have also made a lot of new friends by blowing my horn at them when I have heavy gloves on trying to shut them off. I get a lot of people to wave at me.

LMAO - I would have never admitted it (first, anyhow but) I also have found lots of new friends with the horn - same as you - looking for ANYTHING on that left handle and "beep."

I have led lights around my mirrors so I know when the turn signals are on or off. They still drove me crazy mostly when I change lanes and use them they always seemed to turn on the opposite one when trying to cancel. Today I tried holding the button for a split second longer as recommended and it seems to work almost every time.

Thanks for the tip, still not perfect but better. Both of my Victory motorcycles have a lane change feature in the button, you just hold it for more than 2 seconds and when you release it turns off, great for lane changes and Canam could sure use this idea.

Had the this problem solved last year but it came back, so I did the same this I did last year. I sprayed some contact cleaner it the switch. It is working just fine now.

I have been holding the button in the center for a long second lately and that does make a difference most of the time. Its a help along with the LEDs I added to alert me when it doesnt cancel. I still hope that BRP will improve this at some point.

IT IS NOT BROKE

I have a 2010 RT-S and have very little problem with the turn signal switch. Takes some time to get the feel for it.
I don't believe it is broke as most are suggesting so BRP would not be inclined to fix it. That being said I believe there is plenty of room for improvement with this switch and brighter indicator lights would be a step forward.

I used this stuff, recommended by Radio Shack. As previously stated by Dudley, it made a difference!

I have. 2010 rt never had a prob with canceling turn single just push the button in. All so most cars and truck when you Chang lanes they do self cancel. Seem to me just nick picking spyder and brp geeeee.

With all due respect, this thread has nothing to do with nitpicking the Spyder or BRP. This is a serious safety issue that's been around for a long, long time and BRP (and it's dealers) have been consistently ignoring (perhaps hoping it would go away). I had a 2010 RT-S that would take an act of God to cancel the turn signal. I eventually traded it in on a two-wheeler due the the excessive buggyness of the onboard computers. My wife has a 2010 RT-AC with the exact same issues with the turn signal. I can't tell you how many times I've had to use hand signals to tell her that she was still signalling. :banghead: A week and a half ago, I traded in the two-wheeler for a new 2012 RT Limited (due to medical reasons - arthritis in my throttle hand) and, at least on my new Spyder, it appears that the issue has been taken care of. :ohyea: The self-cancelling turn signals actually self cancel  AND when I have to manually turn off the turn signal, all I have to do is to push the button ONCE (not the 2-4 times like before). I totally agree that this is a safety issue that BRP needs to address in the form of a recall on prior year models and I, too, would be more than happy to sign any petition regarding this matter.

I don't believe it is broken, just a very poor design. The fact that it takes the rider's attention away from the road, plus has a tendency to signal erroneous intentions to other drivers makes it dangerous as designed.

OK - I went out today and tried the very defined push on the cancel - like hold it in for a second - and it worked every time! Now, I did notice one time when canceling a right signal that the left signal lit briefly while I was holding it in for the 1 second press - but when I released it - all was good and the signals were in fact cancelled altogether.

Thank you to the poster that put up the suggestion - definitely worked for me.

TOO - The owners manual on the 2012 RT-ltd says that the blinkers will automatically cancel out after 30 seconds of driving - guess I had not let it "blink on" for long enough to notice if it did (or was just too oblivious to it if it in fact worked the way it was supposed to) :p

I had the same problem with mine. (2011 LTD)
Added the LED Arrow turn signals on mirrors which helped when they did not cancel.
Had dealer replace switch and it is MUCH better, but still not what it should be.
Where did you get the LED arrows from

Here is an update on my 2010

After about 2 1/2 years, and now about 23000 miles, it seems that the center "off" position has worn in.
In other words, I don't seem to have the left/right/left/right problem anymore.
Now I can turn off the turn signal by simply pushing in the turn signal button into the center position.

TURN SIGNAL QUESTION

I am not mechanically inclined. I have trouble using my left hand due to a spinal injury. Have any of the mechanics tried changing the turn signal :duh:spring switch to a 3 position toggle switch?
