• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Who's watching the eclipse?

We actually had a 4 day vacation planned for this week, and it just so happened to be in the NC mountains where it would be 100%. 2 weeks ago, my wife's aunt (who had been living with us and has alztimers) started having kidney failure and was moved to hospice. Because of this, we rescheduled our vacation for the end of September. Kind of glad now, because I understand that traffic will be a bear. One of the little towns that we visit has a population of less than 500, but this weekend it will grow to between 6k and 10k.
On another note, tomorrow will be a good day to be an optomitrist. Between the people going in with burned retinas from not having glasses, and the ones with pink eye from sharing glasses, this could be a gold mine.

Well that was a bust. Total cloud cover. So I got a couple screen shots of my Sky Guide app. But I can't load them- invalid file. :gaah:

I think that my Missus caught the "Money-Shot"!:2thumbs::firstplace:

Hi Bob,,

I think your 'money shot' is about a buck & change short.

I got up & drove ~25 miles south to Woodburn, OR to watch totality. The Woodburn Outlet Mall parking lot was $20 per car to park. However, it was worth it.

They said on tv that it would get cold during totality, and they were right in a relative sense.

During totality I was able to take off my eclipse glasses & just look at the total eclipse. It was quite amazing.

I spent about $50 in total for parking, gas, food, etc & about 5 hrs of my life.

The I-5 freeway coming back north was a parking lot; over 2 hrs to go 15 miles.

I did it because I doubt that I will get to see another one.
