• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Which Ipod works with the pigtail that came with my Spyder? Which one do you guys recommend? And do they all charge while plugged in?

ipod

they all should work for apple uses the same plug in for all ipods...i use a old ipod that i have had for a long time....i just leave it in and have not had any problems with it ....it is the short more square one ...problably the ipod one....

The iPod shuffle will only work via the additional audio cable provided. You would also not be able to control it from the front. All others seem to work equally great. If using the iPhone, Pandora is pretty amazing as well.

I think that I've got a 6th generation Ipod... About the size of a Saltine cracker... I'm having trouble getting it to hook up properly and stay charged... Perhaps there's a bug in the machine with mine??? :gaah::dontknow:

Me too!

I have had the same issue with my 2012 RT limited. It worked with the 5th generation nano...and then it didn't. Always says AUX and won't let me scroll thru songs. Used to charge and now doesn't charge it up.

Just bought the 6th generation nano incase it was a 'software communication' issue. It work for about 2 secs and went back to the same old problem of not recognizing it.

Definitely let me know what they find with your bike and I'll do the same! it is definitely not the nano...something is weird in the bike electronics...

Experiencing the same issue with new 2012 RT :spyder2: and iPod. Seems if the cable is not in tight it may causes this.
Going to mention it to the dealer this Tuesday and see what they have to say. :yikes:

Next Saturday (Weather permitting!), I'll take mine to the dealer for some "advanced Farkling"... While there I'm going to bring this issue up also...

For anyone with an IPhone and an unlimited data plan you can use pandora radio app which is similar to Sirius but free with the RT cable. It will allow you to cycle through songs with the controls. I set mine on shuffle with the stations I like and roll.

The update so far...they already replaced the cable. I bought a new generation 6 nano because they thought it was a software issue. But is still doesn't work or charge it and it should.

They haven't told me what they found out so far...but it isn't the cable or the nano...it is the bike electronics.

hopefully it is fixed before the Spring trip in 2 weeks!

Could it be that the 6th gen. Ipods just won't work correctly with the :spyder2:'s stereo?? :gaah:

The dealer has said that all the latest Apple stuff should work. iphone, itouch, nano...

Mine used to work and then stopped recognizing it. It would come up on the screen 'ipod' then after a few minutes would switch to 'aux' with no way to play thru songs.

That is usually the result of a loose cable...either not latched on both sides in the iPod, or loose at the jack in the Spyder.

Agree with Scotty, needs to be connected tightly or it will flip flop between AUX and iPod.
However, if it doesn’t work at all it could be something else. :yikes:
