• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where did you ride?

My dad introduced me to riding in a 1937 Harley's sidecar when I was two weeks old. I've ridden bikes for the following 85 years. When I'm not riding, I love to read about other rider's adventures. Itchy Boots leads the list. There are a lot of reports here, but very few posted lately. With the riding season ending for many readers, there is now time to write about your summer's activities and share. Attached is a one-minute clip mentioning where I have been. :chat:

I had a fantastic time (hoping for a couple more cold but dry rides in snowmobile gear - before snow of course) riding both the North shore of Lake Superior and the National Forest along the NorthWest shore of the big lake in Minnesota. I bought a 2014 RT LTD with only 7,985 miles in May, looked just now, it has 16,224 miles. :D
Oh ya, I forgot a great run across the UP of Michigan and back.

So yesterday I took a drive so I could confirm that Apple Carplay was working correctly.
Using the Maps app on my iPhone to create a route from where I live to a grocery store on the other side of town.
Once my Spyder was started, I connected the iPhone to the USB port in the glove box, and Carplay came up with the destination listed.

I then allowed Apple Carplay on my Spyder to take me to the grocery store.
After getting to the grocery store and stopping in the parking lot, I touched the "Home" option to have my Spyder take me home.
I also adjusted the headset volume, as it was difficult to hear the directions over road noise.

And I didn't like the roads that it picked to get me home, so I went a different way.
After turning "off route" it paused for a few seconds, and then the Carplay display adjusted the route to the road I was traveling on and started directing me to my home. And I took a side trip to pick up some dinner. Again it paused for a moment and starting give me updated directions.

Total distance was only 21 miles, about 34 kms.

Total success, and Apple Carplay works correctly on my 2024 Spyder RT Sea2Sky.
I use an iPhone SE 2nd Gen connected with an Apple 'Lightning to USB' cable connected to the USB port in the glove box.
The headset I installed in my helmet is a Sena 3S Plus Boom Microphone Kit.

That is some really scenic stuff. As a former Minnesotan and resident of the North Shore for awhile, then moving to Ashland, I also got to ride the UP.

OK, as an Ozzie who hasn't visited too much of this part of the States (at least not on dry land! :p ) what the bleedin' 'eck is 'the UP'?? :dontknow:

Well, I have been lucky enough to ride some in November and have been to NY twice this month already... Western NY... pretty ride from western PA...

Short rides, but at this point, I'll take any! Not ready to put my Spyder away for the winter yet!

Hot diggity! I'm not alone in my need to get off the couch, out the door, and on the road. I hope more people join in and share. :ohyea:

Not that I need ANY reason to go ryding, but the mrs. is off quilting with several of her girl friends for the weekend, so after church yesterday the drizzling had stopped I cruised around north Alabama and southern Tenn. for 100 miles. Good farmland with curvy two lane roads and trees just starting to change colors. I love it.

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It's a whole different place...The residents there are referred to as the Da Yoopers.

Did you ever hear of Weird Al Yankovick? He was a crazy polka band leader. He did many, many, weird songs. He lived there and claimed to be a spokesman for the UP.

The "UP" or "Yoopers" are kind like "banana benders". :D

That, or Tasmanians (aka Taswegians, 2 Heads, Tasmaniacs). Tasmania is an Australian island state to the south of Victoria, and they have things in common with the Yoopers.. 1)... Developed their own identity & 2)... Feel a bit forgotten by mainland Australia.

Today I did my annual ride to Poopy's bar and grill in Savanna, IL. It is my last long'ish ride of the year at about 230 miles round trip. I did listen to holiday tunes while on the ride. :) The bYke is now prepped for winter hibernation...

We stop there about once a year on our way up to Galena. Twice a year if we are lucky enough to have the time. 84 along the river is a fun ride, Rt 2 east is another nice rolling ride.

Our trip this year was through Missouri and Arkansas, to give some business to Lamonster and then Spyderpops. We had a wonderful time riding the beautiful roads in Arkansas and Oklahoma, then came home through Kansas and Nebraska to close out some locations on our map. I've threatened this before, but if I get time, I'll post up some pictures.

Just a local ride.
32 miles to the market and back by a very round about route.
Temp range 29-50 degrees.
