I need it. I really, really do!
Having slept on it I have a few changes I want to make to the Cold Oil Checker.
Dan, do you want to test the second prototype when it is done?

You bet! I am honored and flattered.Having slept on it I have a few changes I want to make to the Cold Oil Checker.

Any movement on this? I am ready to purchase when you are ready to sell!
I have everything on hand to make these, I just need some time to crank a few out. I see that Mikeguyver has beaten me to the table on this one.

...........But Bob D. is correct I have created a " THREADLESS " dipstick ( why He didn't post a PIC while He had it I don't know ????).....But it's an exact copy of the OEM one for all the 998 engines oil resevoir's ........I did extend the stick a little so you can tell sooner where the oil is when you are doing an oil change.....Also mine is foolproof ....you can't do it wrong.......and it works when the engine is at proper temp.......Mikeguyver
Put us down for one JT sounds like a great product! ThanksI have a cold check dipstick in the works (inspired by Scotty). I hope to have a prototype done as soon as i catch up from taking a vacation.

Just a thought. If a cold dip stick reading was accurate then why would BRP not have implemented that? Most cars and other vehicles are cold dip stick.
Why did they implement a full temp dip stick?
There must be a reason?
Bob
There's got to be a better way and maybe a better thread improvement.
O ring seat groove can be added to eliminate to problem. Can a crush washer be use instead the o ring? Cam and lock type possibility??
A positive brainstorming will help us all end up a better product. Good luck.
I agree and I superglued my o ring to the dipstick early spring this year and it has stayed put so far. I find that when it starts to crossthread if I keep a little down pressure on it and turn it ccw a bit it aligns itself.I would opine that it's because we use a "dry sump" engine and cars use a "wet sump" engine. They are a very different animal. I am not aware of any wet sump engines that check the oil level in the tank on a cold engine because of the check valve and the variation in the oil level due to leak down.
