• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What would you do?

Just picked up my daughters car up from the repair shop last night for a tune-up due to a service engine light coming on.They said it could come on again due to knock sensor being bad but this was a cheaper fix for now since it is an older car she doesn't want to put alot of money into it.I trusted thisshop because 2 co-workers recomended them so i just let my daughter take the bill without going over it.She calls me later and tells me they charged for replacing the windshield wipers, the ones I just replaced Saturday! She had not even turned them on yet!My wife calls to complain this morning and they tell her they were shredded--------- WTF.I don't mind paying for work done but I am livid over this.I wonder if there is an honest auto repair shop in the country. Sorry I just have to vent!!!

Have a "friendly" talk with the dealer. Did you save the package or receipt for the wipers you installed new on Saturday? That would be excellent proof of your argument. I would not let them get off without mentioning it to them and letting them know you will give them a lot of free advertising if they don't want to solve the issue.

That is why Michigan law requires any replaced parts to be shown to the customer if under warranty, or offered to be returned to him if not. One of the oldest scams on earth to run up your repair bill.

:agree: It's like leaning a broom against the checkout counter of a grocery store... How many folks end up buying that broom?? :gaah:
"Alaska's" right; if you've got your receipt or boxes; take them over with you for a chat with them... Good luck!

I believe TX is the same, but you have to ask for the parts. And Im sure in the case of wipers, theyve got a shredded pair or two lyin around they could hand me.

I certainly would press the issue and without FAST resolution, would never use them again!

Lets just go there and beat them LOL . But that blows they did that to you I really hate that . I would NEVER do that , my buddie would NEVER do that ( he owns a shop). I have no Idea what you could do aside from keep complaining up the ladder of command , to see if something happens .

Complain to them and hope you get some satisfaction, And and even if you ''do'', you'll get even more satisfaction from not doing more business with them.

Well luckily my wife went in instead of me.She politley told them that they shouldn't be doing any unauthorized work.Thier reply was it was only minor cost. Then my wife told them that 22 dollars is major to a kid going to college and making 7 dollars an hour part time. The mechanic came out and insisted to show my wife a pair of wipers that were dry rotted that he said he took of my daughters car.At this point I would have lost it!But being smarter than me she just produced the reciept for the wipers and told him "I don't know what car they came from but they are not from my daughters car."She got the money back but you can bet your azz I am going over the car this weekend and checking it for what they said they did.

They shouldn't be doing any unauthorized work without checking with the owner first. Makes you wonder what they do to other peoples cars. Parts are big money to a dealer, more so than labor. I take my car and truck to the dealer where I purchased them for service. They have never done me wrong. They always call if they find something wrong before doing anything.

Glad to hear you got the money back for the wipers. It does not sound like a good dealer to do future business with.

:agree: Kudos to your Wife for keeping her cool and shoving the receipt in their faces when they tried to pull another fast one!:clap::firstplace:
