• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What kind of Oil

Most likely the most expensive oil available, like gasoline with government intervention to add ethanol. Bob, I never thought you to be so extravagant.

PK

You're 1/2 right.... Bob definitely falls into the category of 'EXTRA'!

Well some of you are very hilarious -- I really do like the sense of humour ---

I am trying to learn all I can about the Can Ams since I have been riding for 40 plus years. Mostly with Hondas and Suzukis, but have ridden different brands on test rides and what friends have had. Currently my main ride is a Harley Tourer -- the Can Am is for my wife -- who is an excellant 2 wheel rider - but I have worried about her tipping over when coming to a stop, since she is short of stature and the bike is still a little too tall even after lowering.

However I did receive some very good reading material and will be digesting it in my making the final decision for an oil choice.

What has really gotten me to think, is that the dilution of the oil with gas -- on some of the Can Ams and that many of you do oil analysis at such a low mileage. But then seeing the results, I can understand. When using some synthetics, I have run extended drains of 12,000 miles on my motorcycles/cars and they have high mileage on them so something must be gong right.

I also find it interesting that the BRP oil is a blend and not full synthetic --

I will be reading and asking questions.

hope to see you out riding

I sort of figure that the folks who have to fix it if it breaks over five years (since I bought a 3 year BEST warranty) might have a vested interest in using oil that protects it . . . so I use the BRP recommended oil . . . :dontknow:

Marvell Mystery Oil

so what is the general opinion on oil -- Regular or synthetic? Motorcycle specific or regular automotive oil?

We all have our opinion of the best brand -- and let me just say that after being a loyal fan of brand X for 30 plus years, I just went with brand XX on my last change and like it a lot -- no I am not going to debate the merits of each brand. If you want to know what I went with and why -- just PM me. I will be glad to tell you what I put into my motorcycles and truck and the results[/QUOTE]

I always add a cap of Marvell Mystery Oil to whatever oil I use ;)

Works great on the farm also.

Marvel Mystery Oil lost some of its appeal when they started to package it plastic containers.
That red and black lithograthed metal container with all those mysterious symbols to repel the evil spirits that haunt internal combustion engines. And it smells good too.

AMSOIL

Actually SPYDERJOCKEY reached 100,000 miles on their Spyder and he said that he has only used BRP oil except for two Amsoil oil changes....

JASO, MA or better

5w40 will cover you. Even if you're cranking in a deep freeze, or motoring in up to 110* temps. Pick your poison and change it often.
