• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. What are "throttle bodies"???

OK, I'm a newbie, but I keep hearing about throttle bodies which need to be fixed. Can anyone explain to me what this means. My bike wavers gently side to side much like riding a walking horse, but I assume this must be due to wind resistance. But sometimes it feels like the resistance is front to back. Is this normal for a spyder?? I am also reving up to 5K RPM between gears which is suggested during the break in period. After break in, shifting at 4K RPM is best for gas mileage.
:dontknow:
Any feelings on this from experience spyder owners. Thanks from this newbie with 300 miles on her beautiful RT-S.

throttle bodies

G'day spydergal, throttle bodies have replaced carburettors, they control the air /fuel mixture entering the motor. When I bought my :spyder2:'09 RS new, i sometimes got the sensation that I was riding through patches of sand on the road, :ohyea:the Spyder, would feel sluggish, then go OK again. Dealer said they "balanced the throttle bodies", fixed that problem. Wandering from side to side has been covered a lot, in other threadss but you could try not gripping bars so tightly, relax, play with tyre pressures, or have dealer check wheel alignment. Hope you find solutions without too much mucking around. GoodVybrations.

Hello GoodVibe's

I think this machine is so technically advanced, It should tell us when the throttle body is out of whack !! At least I hope so. I do relax gripping the handlebars and just go with the flow. I love the bike and have 500 miles on it in just 1 week. Thanks for your input. Appreciate it.

Spydergal, your machine will let you know when the throttlebody starts acting up with a "limp mode" notice. They seem to act up with some regularity. Mine was recently replaced at 4500 mi, despite the 2011-7 throttlebody update.
