most of you are upset with the price they charged me with the instillation of the shocks at 252.00. now i first tried to install them w/o removing the nose and i couldn't do it, so i had to take the nose off. in order to do that i had to remove the two side pop off panels, the two mirrors, the cover around the front head lights, than all the bolts to get the nose off. i am a big guy and it was hard for me to do so i decided to let them do it being they had most of the bike apart to do the heat fix and they also had the bike on a lift that would make it a lot easier to work on. so i agree they stuck it to me bad on the price, but i am more ticked off that the bike was not working right, it took a week to get the burnt canister than by the time it came in they were working on another bike so they didn't do me first like i figured they should. than they said they wanted to make sure the bike was right b4 they gave it back to me and after arranging to get a ride there and sending my friend home the bike was messed up and not working right. that ticked me off more than the money i spent. and as far as the parking brake goes i really think there was a slip over stainless wrapping on the hose already. the bag of parts they showed me when the bike first went in was just a few pieces of tape in it, nothing to wrap anything else, so i have no clue what they did to the parking brake system.and they did not have to go anywhere near the slave cylinder for the hand brake so i don't understand why that is not working. i really can't call brp on the shop because their answer would be the same as many of you have said, go to a different dealer. so right now i am stuck at where i am and just have to bite my lip till i get the bike back.
John
I am only speaking for myself here. But, my reaction to the price of the shock install is only the tip of the iceberg. To me it is indicative of the
absolute ineptitude of your dealer. In blunt terms,,,
they suck!
I have been been following your ill fated adventure on the Spyder. I am confident that you have extreme heat issues, BUT I also think if you had a competent dealer with a basic concern for doing the right thing, that your Spyder experiences may be resulting in a very different and happier outcome at this very moment.
I know that folks want a dealer that is conveniently located but, I am often amazed at folks who are not willing to travel some distance to get to a good dealer. Folks, a good dealer is CRUCIAL to your Spyder experience.
Now John, I am not saying this is true in your case,,,, so please don't think this is aimed specifically at you. I am very sympathetic to your situation.
It just blows me away when I see folks complain about having to travel an hour or more to get to a good dealer. They will often "settle" for going, over and over, to an incompetent dealer that is more conveniently located, and then complain about their horrible experiences. I think if they would simply invest the time to travel to a GOOD dealer, they would spend more time happily riding, than continuing to return to the same crappy dealer and then out of frustration, spend time here complaining about it.
Like many of you, I still work for a living. Was it highly,
highly inconvenient for me to ride a six hour round trip to get RickyLen and Kevin at Cowtown to work on my Spyder? Hell yes. But I did it so that my Ryding experience would be better.
If I still owned a Spyder, then I would ABSOLUTELY make the now
TEN hour round trip to get RickyLen to work on my Spyder at PitBull. And in lieu of that, I would do the six hour round trip to see Kevin at Cowtown.
So, you folks need to be willing to expand your dealer search area if necessary.
Sorry for for the long post, but
PLEASE, all of you with continuing issues, find a good dealer and invest the time to travel to them. It will pay off in the long run. If you aren't willing to invest the time to get to a good dealer, then it may be time to invest in a different brand machine with a competent dealer near you.
There is no way on this earth that I would continue to allow a piss poor dealer to dictate my Ryding experience.
Sorry. I'm done now. :doorag:
