weird antenna happening

My local dealer will be replacing my antenna and boot for free. He contacted BRP and they authorized the replacement.

Riding back from spyderfest, my brother and I made stops for gas and to eat. We each have an RT and when we left Springfield the antennas were on both bikes. After stopping to eat in McAlester OK we noticed that the antennas were off both bikes. The entire rubber housing on each had also been removed, so these weren't just snapped off. One person told me that dope addicts snap off car antennas and smoke crack through them and thinks this may have been what happened. The bikes were not harmed in any other way. Has anyone else had this happen? What do you think?

I had a shorty antenna on my RT. On the way back from a trip I lost the antenna and the
boot. I do not know what happen, maybe it vibrated loose? I went to Auto Zone and purchase a shortie antenna and a rubber bushing trimmed to fit the hole that the boot covered and this what I came up with.

My wife her antenna this past weekend. I think we will be going with a shortie antenna. Thanks for the pictures and advice. 84 dollars for a replacemant antenna and boot is a little much.

I had a kindly older gentleman 'help' me put my cover on and snapped mine off. My husband and I got shorty ones after and no problems since. Could anything like this have happened? It really didn't take much pressure at all.
