• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

weird antenna happening

Riding back from spyderfest, my brother and I made stops for gas and to eat. We each have an RT and when we left Springfield the antennas were on both bikes. After stopping to eat in McAlester OK we noticed that the antennas were off both bikes. The entire rubber housing on each had also been removed, so these weren't just snapped off. One person told me that dope addicts snap off car antennas and smoke crack through them and thinks this may have been what happened. The bikes were not harmed in any other way. Has anyone else had this happen? What do you think?

Could be..!!

then again maybe some one broke theirs and needed a new one and a spare..!!:roflblack:
Unfortunate but stolen for sure, for what use who knows...

The Spyder antennas aren't like straws so I wouldn't think you could smoke anything with them. That sure is odd that both of yours were missing.

Happened also to two of us

Is this a conspiracy maybe???

Ours was missing from Teds Red Sled somewhere between Cincinnati Ohio & the parking lot of Americas Best Hotel there in Springfield. We listen to XM or MP3 so I didn't notice it was gone til that night when I went to put the travel cover on and found the antanae and boot gone, but the hard plastic bottom piece still in place.

Funny thing is, our gracious roomate whos from Florida found his also to be missing, boot and all :dontknow: as well

One of my friends lost his antenna on the way to Springfield. Seems as if it vibrated loose to the point of just flying off. Antenna and boot gone...looked like it unscrewed from the base. His wife said she touched the antenna sometime before the trip and it felt like it was loose. Maybe yours came loose as well although losing antennas off both Spyders seems more than just a coincidence.

That sucks but it only reminds us what kind of people are in that area and to watch out for.

I happened to me too not on my Spyder but on my car.

You guys and gals are in luck. I have several slightly used antennas that I am willing to sell at half price plus $10.00 shipping anywhere. Most have the rubber boots included. :joke::joke:

There was a problem with antennas a couple years back. They were supposed to be installed with a lockwasher and blue locktite (if I remember that right). Many did not have that done when installed. I lost mine early on. Used a temporary Wal Mart short antenna which worked well. About $10.00. Warranty replaced my OEM and I have not had any problems since. I do check the tightness from time to time just to make sure though.

Yes! There must be a conspiracy somewhere. I checked mine for tightness before leaving Springfield and all was OK. My brother's spyder is only about a month old so shouldn't have problems either. The fact that both boots were gone makes me think they would have to have been unscrewed from the rear trunk. Or maybe God just doesn't like those strange things!

:agree: They could have died from these natural causes...

This happened to be my antenna SpyRyd is talking about. I'm hoping I can get it replaced under warranty by BRP since it flew off.

If they were snapped off the base would still be there. If they were installed using the lock washer and Loctite they don't normally loosen.

They wre stolen by aliens

Aliens from the planet "Discount" came to Earth to kidnap Bob Denham and needed additionall fuel rods to get home onroflmao

Just got to Vegas from Spyderfest lost two antenna's one each RT one appeared to be snapped off the other was defective on the screw base. We lost them on the first day returning to Vegas one between Missouri and Tulsa. The other between Tulsa and Elk City. The interesting thing is we never left the RT as we only stopped for gas and one of us was at the bikes at all times. BRP covered this under warranty and the dealer Ride Now was kind enough to take them off two RT's while we waited since we are on our way to Washington State.

My local dealer will be replacing my antenna and boot for free. He contacted BRP and they authorized the replacement.
