• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

i got my first spyder a 09 gs se5. the evap canister has been removed by the previous owner. my question is should i re install the canister before going in for warranty work.. it has a bad hesitation off the bottom with backfiring in the breather box and was going to get it checked out. also the check engine light comes on sometimes....

I am not familiar with the procedure for the canisterectomy or what ever procedure he may have used, but if you have all the parts you need I think I would re-install them when taking it in for warranty work. Do you know if the previous owner was ever denied warranty on that unit? There may be a recall on it for the evap can. Did you buy it from a dealer? If so they should be a big help for you re: the running issue. Good luck with it. When they are running good they are fun machine.

If you bought it from a dealer, and that's a big if, That dealer would have to reinstall the canister at no charge to you.
It's considered tampering with pollution controls,
A dealer can't legally sella bike that way. I don't know how a private sale works legally?
If you did buy it privately and you have the canister put it back on.
Because more than likely they will blame the Hesitation/Backfiring on the
canister being removed, And then the repairs might be on your Dime.

1. They need to install all the updates and replace the Y gaskets with Honda part # 18392-MAM-000.
2. JB + O2 modifier.
3. To many to list all causes for the "engine light"; service and B.U.D.S will decide.

:agree: Plus, when you take it to the dealer, have them look up Warranty Bulletin 2009-4 or as Carlo put it, Quality Bulletin 2009-4. This bulletin was for performance issues and the vent tube extension back in sept./oct. 2009.

thanks for the advice. i will re install the canister before going in to shop. gonna wait a bit tho they said they were 2-3 weeks behind and im still enjoying great riding weather here in alabama. i will post the results on what was found when i get it back....
