• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Video taped the exhaust. Camera was placed on the curb about 20 inches from the pipe. Started out at idle, then a short reeving up, then idle, and then increased/decreased rpm's by 1000 increments to 7000 rpms (1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, 6000, 5000, 4000, 3000, 2000, and then back to idle).

PS. I originally replied this to another post, but decided to start my own. I did not want to highjack it.

It's "Music To My Ears"...

Thanks a MILLION! :2thumbs:

I also like the sound that Camus has, though I am wondering what it would sound like with a glass-pack on it.

Sounds a lot like a Triumph

A 3 cylinder Triumph motorcycle that is. Four stroke inline triples all have a 120 degree crankshaft and the firing order is every 240 degrees so they're all going to sound similar. There's a lot of videos of Triumph triples with loud exhausts, just google them up. You'll get an idea of how a 2014 RT with a straight through glass pack will sound.

on a side note, I see they have changed the park brake/rear brake caliper. The return spring is simplified and should be easy to see if it is awry.

Not sure..!!

but not a fan of that sound. Will pass judgement when I hear one in person...thanks for the link..!!

That sounds good to me as I don't want a loud bike anyway, I want to hear the stereo!

I never understand why people like loud pipes anyway. Especially at idle. Sounds like it purrs at idle and powerful at "speed". Can't wait till I can hear mine this weekend!!!!

Actually, one of the features that I look for in a motorcycle these days is "Quietness". I ride two up with my wife, and between wanting to chat to each other on the Sena, and wanting to rack up the miles/day, a loud exhaust makes it more difficult. Even a deep exhaust note at idle or cruising speed makes me tired sooner. I had a Vette with a very nice sounding Borla exhaust on it, but as much as I loved the sound, after a few hours of cruising on the highway, I was ready to stop. I also had to raise my voice much more just to talk to the passenger. There is enough noise to deal with just from the other vehicles around me; making my sound louder than them doesn't make it better. For those wanting more sound, I suggest modifying your exhaust to get just the note you're looking for.

Sound can help 4 wheelers

Years ago near Memphis I got caught in a white out/raining so hard I could not see and was stuck on a three lane hwy. A lot of people pulled over to stop until vision was restored. Well those loud pipes helped people to know I was close. When I made it to an over pass a car pulled up behind me and we talked about the rain. He said that he never saw me but heard the pipes and knew I was there somewhere. I like just enough sound to let the person in the next lane know I'm there. I would rather add a small amp and better speakers and use a good exhaust pipe. JMO

:agree: I would rather hear the stereo than the pipes. I had a two brothers on my old RS, but got tired of the high drown sound when on the freeway.

You will be happy to know that the speakers have been improved. Parked mine next to either a 2012 or 2013 (don't remember now), had both radios on the same station, and settings. There was three of us listening, and we all agreed that the 2014 sounded better. One of the three plays in a band, and is in tune with how music should sound.

:agree: X2...
Loud pipes only annoy people...
Annoyed people; close off gaited communities to motorcyclists...
Annoyed people; make most of the rules that we ALL must abide by../

Agree, I was wanting to stay at a resort in NC. Found out that they don't allow motorcycles. Not saying that is the reason, but....
Wonder if I could convince them the Spyder is not a motorcycle ;)
