• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Vented 'shield

I installed the 25" vented 'shield I purchased from Honda East this week. It is nice to be able to see over it in a lower position but I will need to road test it especially with my wife on the back as it is also quite a bit narrower along with being 2" shorter than the stock 'shield. May be able to ride a little today if I get the '12 shocks and BajaRon anti-sway bar installed early enough.

I live close by and went to the store and they had it and the clear adj. wind deflectors in stock. My price was $297 for WS and $123.56 for the deflectors. U may have to call for the best price. My salesperson was Nate Morelock.

Question: Are you referring to the windshield with that BIG hole in the center, or the one with the 2 holes that mate up to the holes that are in the mounting bracket? I just added the latter one to my 2010 RT, and am pretty happy with it. I notice that the buffeting around my shoulders is reduced a noticeable amount, and even with a set of Elkas up front; seeing over it is no problem at all... :2thumbs:

The one with big hole with the adj. louvers. Seems pretty small compared to the stock '10 shield. Might take it out this afternoon for a test. its supposed to warm up later. Also the bigBike dash pouch I have but never installed yet mat not work out with the vent.

Update:
I got a short ride this afternoon and I will prolly keep the 'shield. In a lower position so I can easily see over it there is some buffeting in the helmet that's not too bad after you get to abt 60 mph. Before that not so much. Put it all the way up and there a little buffeting in the shoulder area at higher speeds. But being the forgetful old fool that I am, I never tried opening the vent. Guess I will have to go for another ride.

You're not a "forgetful olf fool" at all; you carefully planned this so that you had an excuse for another ride! ;)

I[ve been thinking about those little holes and figured that BRP must have put them there for a reason but I haven't read any official reason for them. I cut my 2010 RT shield down a few inches to fit me, the width of it seems to be o.k. for me. If the little holes are benificial I will cut them out to get what ever benifit it gives. What do you think Bob? I guess if the buffeting is cut down some it would be good, I can warm up the old dremel tool.

YES! I noticed an improvement... :ohyea: I would certainly bet that the big hole in the center of the accessory windshield would help even more; I wanted to take a more subtle approach. (One that the Missus wouldn't notice...)
